Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Pally.
Rachel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my line in 2002 after I graduated from UC Berkeley. I minored in modern dance and had to work in the costume shop to fulfill all of my credits. I LOVED making costumes! I started to sew clothes for myself and my friends and they were really cute! At one point, I was in LA visiting my family and I stopped into a store in Chinatown and the owner commented on my dress and asked where I got it. I told her I made it and proceeded to show her a bag of my laundry from the car – she loved it all and asked me to start sending pieces to her to sell. They sold well and she encouraged me to launch my own line after college… and I did!
Fast forward 14 years, and I’m still in the business, making clothes for every woman and supporting my local Los Angeles economy by manufacturing it all in Downtown LA is incredibly important to me. Over the years, I have added a maternity line, a plus size line, a bridal collection, and even a baby line!
Has it been a smooth road?
Of course it hasn’t been a smooth road. It never is! I’ve had shipping problems and production problems and I even had a production manager that embezzled from me. I’ve been hyper-involved at times and scaled back my involvement at others (when I was pregnant or had a new baby). I’ve weathered changes in styles and the economy. And I have learned a lot along the way!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Rachel Pally – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love this city. I was born here, as were both of my parents (and my in-laws!). I love the diversity, the open-mindedness, the creativity, the beauty, the weather! And like EVERYONE ELSE, I hate the traffic!
