Today we’d like to introduce you to Wasted Space.
Wasted Space’s routs are found in Buffalo New York. Composed of members Jeremy Swartwout on guitar/bass, Collin Folger on drums, and Matthew Lupkin on vocals, “Wasted Space” formed to fill the void left by the dissolution of Jeremy, Collin, and Matt’s former assemble. Left desolate and distraught the three decided to ban together in search of resolution through a new medium of aggression, violence, and most importantly groove. This new project was dubbed “wasted space” as not only an attack on the world that had left them out in the cold but also a constant reminder of the overwhelming damnation that existences has cursed us all with.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Although smooth may come to mind when describing their music, in regards to the band’s journey, it is reminiscent of the pothole stricken and winter burned streets of its home city. With only three members the weight of not only nihilism and depression but dead end jobs as well were laid heavy on their shoulders. Compounded by the threat of the ever-present invisible enemy that plagues is all, Wasted Space begins their quest for at least some minimal standard of living in this cruel and forbidding world.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Wasted space brings solid rhythms, groovy riffs, and thought provoking lyrics in array of fusion metal, deriving from punk, hardcore, and thrash. With Collin and jeremy’s commitment to groove and rhythm, combined with Matt’s aggressive and wordy take on harsh vocals create a sound that is as infectious as it is addicting.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for the the band means one thing: to be able to afford at least some minimal standard of living, their current situation of living out of the tour van and dumpster diving has gone on long enough! the quest for a minimum wage begins!
