Meet Erich Schuett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erich Schuett.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Erich. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been performing in front of crowd since I was five years old, and by the age of nine I was already singing, dancing, and acting in competitive engagements. An accomplished actor and singer, I recently finished filming a new movie based on the award-winning book “Song of the Tree Frogs” where I played the lead role of a teenager named Philip. My first feature film “18 to Party” recently premiered at the Woodstock Film Festival, and over the past several years I have appeared in multiple other films, commercials, TV episodes, voice-overs, and national and international TV ads.

Ever since arriving in New York in 2015, I have regularly put in 15 to 20+ hours a week training, attending workshops, and auditioning. All of my hard work and dedication to perfecting my talents paid off when I was tapped to play Friedrich for the Broadway 50th Anniversary National Tour of The Sound of Music. Once off tour, my musical abilities continued to be highlighted as I was selected as a finalist in the American Protégé International Vocal Competition and I had the privilege of singing at Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium. I then was chosen as a winner in the Junior Division of the NY Lyric Opera Competition and was asked to perform on The Harry Connick Jr TV Show. I have performed in and sang Tosca, Macbeth, and have performed in multiple cabarets all over NYC. I was selected as a 2018 Honors Performance Series Sydney Opera House Finalist and had a 2017 Grammy consideration for my first professional recording “A Christmas Presence”. I was given the honor of being the first and the youngest American artist to be invited to Italy to train in the art of Belcanto, where I was honored to be invited to sing with the Belcanto Italiano Foundation in the home of famous tenor Beniamino Gigli.

I am represented by Innovative Artists and managed by Snow Entertainment, Cinda Snow. I am an honors student in high school and I also attend The Juilliard School as a Vocal Performance Vocal Major in Juilliard’s Pre-College program 2019-2021. Member of AEA (Actors Equity) & SAG-AFTRA

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggles are always present. One of the hardest things is not letting in the “noise” in and avoiding the jealousy in the business. Being a young actor there is much competition and from other actors and sometimes even parents, sadly not everyone wishes everyone else success. I learned that not everyone will wish you success or want you to succeed. I no longer worry about what others say and do what I’m taught to the best of my ability. I don’t take things personally and always keep moving forward. My other biggest struggle is my height. I am 16 and 6’2 which in this industry is quite tall. I have a young look but I am usually much taller than others up for the same role. I focus on training and becoming the best I can be and trust the process.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an Actor, Pop & Classical Singer, Songwriter, and Voice Over Artist. I think what makes me unique is my extensive training in classical music. I started very young to develop my voice and was able to relocate at age 11 from Fl to NYC to get the best training. I made industry connections and signed with a manager and agent at a very early age. I also was able to audition for and be accepted to the very prestigious program at Juilliard Pre College to study voice. This has opened many doors for me at a very early age. I am very driven and work seven days a week to keep learning and moving forward.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory was the first time I stepped on a stage at age five. I was living in Florida and had tried every sport out but nothing really clicked. I went to a local theater company, Star Struck in Stewart Fl and KNEW I found my home.
