Today we’d like to introduce you to Kami Vanous.
Kami, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a professional photographer based in Littleton, Colorado. I live here with my amazing husband, our two gorgeous littles and one crazy-cute rescue mutt named Jake. I grew up by the ocean and still have saltwater running through my veins. I never feel more alive than when I’m on a boat or the beach. I love dogs, babies, music, coffee and creating beautiful things.
I began my photography journey in a darkroom with film when I was a teenager and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University. I have spent more than 25 years curating the aesthetic and style I’m now recognized for.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being a female business owner with two young children isn’t always easy but it has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I launched my business more than ten years ago and I’m proud that with the help of my very supportive husband and the best, most loyal clients, I’ve been blessed to have built a successful business.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lucky Friday Studios – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am drawn to the pure connection that we have with our little ones, the art of parenthood, beautiful milestones in young lives and the magic of a woman growing a new life. Throughout more than a decade of photographing young families, I have come to realize what really matters in life and how important it is to create and print images of the people you love. I feel a strong responsibility to take care of my clients and make the entire experience as enjoyable and easy as possible so you are able to document, print and preserve some of the most beautiful moments in your lives while your children are young.
I see a photography session as a true gift to your family. A time to slow down, connect with the people you love the most and allow sweet moments to unfold. When it’s over, you’ll have handmade, heirloom items that will outlast the test of time and be here long after we are.
Throughout my career, I am honored to have won awards and been published for my work in both film and digital arts while gaining extensive experience in styling and design for portraiture, lifestyle and commercial clients.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
As an artist, I’m always dreaming up ways to make my life and business more beautiful and searching for ways to give my clients a better experience. This year, I’m excited to be offering my clients access to a studio wardrobe including designer dresses and gowns from brands such as Free People along with full styling assistance for the whole family. It’s a wonderful way to take away the pressure of figuring out outfits and helps make sure that everyone looks amazing for their session!
As time moves on and my children and business all continue to grow, I’m looking forward remaining at the forefront of an amazing industry that gives families beautiful imagery to share for generations to come.
