Today we’d like to introduce you to Stevie Knocks.
Stevie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Compton California, I had several friends who knew The rapper Suga Free, I was introduced to him back in 2007, I was invited to several studios, events and clubs throughout 2008. In 2008 that’s when I decided to seriously become a music producer & In order to move forward with my career, I knew I had to move out of Compton California because of the violence & Police Harassment if I wanted to be successful. Fast forward years later, I moved to Hollywood, California which was a big leap for me. I have worked with Grammy Nominated Songwriter / Artist Strick From YSL who is currently signed to Young Thug, Grammy Award-Winning Singer-Songwriter Andre Merritt / Up and coming Artist From Houston Billy Racxx, Grammy award-winning Artist Kevin McCall and so many more.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The key to overcoming obstacles in the industry is networking and having strong working relationships with the right people and being resilient, early in my career I thought I could just do everything on my own, I felt like I wanted to take on the world because I didn’t want to depend on anyone but then years of getting nowhere I realized I needed a strong team and strong working relationships! I made the necessary changes and the ship started to sail in the right direction.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I have a record label Called Still Hungry Records, I make beats, I produce records, I executive produce records I sign other producers, songwriters for placements opportunities. I’m proud because I took a step forward in starting my label, it was years of just procrastinating so that’s a big accomplishment for me. My hunger, our hunger we don’t want to be better than anyone we just want to be the best versions of ourselves.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I haven’t had any luck; it’s been all smart work and hard work.
