Today we’d like to introduce you to Noam Wolf.
Noam, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born into a musical family near Tel Aviv, Israel, and went on my first stage at the age of four. I was drawn into anything that allowed me to perform including acting and dancing, but I always knew I want singing as my career. At the age of nine, I started writing songs and performed them to my family in the living room. As a teenager I participated in competitions, choirs, I learned a bit of piano and then taught myself guitar, and it didn’t take too long before I had my own band. I remember getting on the stage terrified in front of thousands of people to sing music I wrote alone in my room, and suddenly it had a life of its own and people sang the lyrics from the audience. This was magic to me, and those years really made me feel lucky that I know exactly what I want to do with my life.
A few years later, and I’m a professional vocalist and songwriter, 29-year-old and based in LA. I studied Jazz music at Rimon School of Jazz in Israel, performed with my musical project all over Israel and around the world. My music was featured on Israel’s biggest radio stations and I worked on vocal productions that have millions of listeners. In Israel being a musician was very hard, as the industry is little – and that’s how I found myself in the US. I was chosen to represent Israel as a young ambassador in New England, and I lived on the east coast for two years. After many performances, collaborations, and cold winters – I had to move here to LA, where there are more opportunities, a beach, and lots of sunshine.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Working in the music industry in a small country was challenging. I performed every day all over the country, did some acting, sang as a back vocalist for Israel’s biggest artists and did lots and lots of recording sessions, and still, I felt like there was more to be achieved. Being a working musician in Israel can be hard at times. I am so happy I was able to do what I love – but in my country, genres like jazz, R&B, and neo-soul are not as prevalent as other genres like pop. So, I knew I had to come here, where there’s greater potential. Moving here wasn’t easy at all, making friends in a new city, another language, very different mentality and without my family and friends from home was stressful and sometimes lonely, but I’m lucky to have my best friend and the love of my life here with me.
We’d love to hear more about your music.
I’m a professional singer-songwriter. I’m a creative vocalist. I record commercial vocals, and I specialize in vocal arrangements, recorded or live. I have written and recorded vocal arrangements to many known pop, R&B, hip-hop, and soul productions. I always arrange the vocal parts and record from my home studio, I provide quality tracks in a short time, and unique, versatile, vibrant vocal parts and harmonies.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I can’t lie, being in the right place at the right time did help me score some amazing gigs in the past, and I was lucky to be born into a very musical family, with parents who supported my dreams and pushed me to make them a reality. That’s pure luck. But I also worked very hard on achieving the things that I wanted for myself in life. If it’s quitting the very comfortable concept of having a day job, starting my own music business in Israel, taking vocal training classes for years and of course releasing my materials to the world. So, it takes courage too, and being consistent, and not giving up even when things don’t work out sometimes.
