Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan Foley.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Nathan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, outside of the nation’s capital and there I encountered all kinds of music. West African, Appalachian, Gogo, Funk, Classical, Jazz, and Hard Rock all have deep cultural importance in what is known as the DMV area. I started playing guitar at age seven after being in love with the instrument for years and haven’t put it down since. At age 17, I moved to Nashville, TN and began to expand my craft, through Nashville’s vibrant music scene and formal education. As a home for some of the world’s best guitar players this was a testing ground and serious place of learning for me. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2018 I have been focused on Popular music of all genres and how I can contribute funkiness and acknowledgement of the One. The level of talent that Los Angeles creates and attracts to itself is profound, and the sunshine helps with a general gladness.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I was 19, I had to move back to Maryland after having some serious lapses in judgment, at which point I began to get serious about being a Christian. This is a defining characteristic about my being and has directed the trajectory of my entire life. I had to learn to take life seriously, we only have a certain amount of time to get up before we gotta get down!
Please tell us about your business.
My business is Maconate Productions, I’m known for bringing an Old School flavor to every music I engage in. I rendezvous as the Funky Librarian, this is purely to delineate the greater concepts of funkiness and Oneness I aim to foster through every personal and business interaction.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The quality that is most important to my success is love. Love for music, culture, society, the country with all its flaws. This love unites the artist with the audience, all the elements with each other, the Sun with all the planets. Love is the most important thing.
