Meet Marcus Hunt of Team Ready in Uptown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Hunt.

Marcus Derrick Hunt, better known as “Marky D” was born right before the golden era of hip-hop. Growing up in Whittier California just outside Los Angeles, his taste in music is a mixture of various genres ranging from classic oldies to modern-day hip-hop. After the passing of his cousin who had a strong influence on him, “Marky D” put all of his efforts into his music; expressing his emotions and keeping his cousin alive. To this day, his cousin is the driving force behind his music. “Marky D” is a huge fanatic of sneakers, cranberry juice, and stand-up comedy, he is always one to say…….“When I get there, I’m gonna sit there.”

A true showman “Marky D’s stage show is incredible to say the least, he rhymes flow to his lyrical arsenale is what makes “Marky D” second to none! It’s truly what caught the ear of E-40 which turns into E-40 featuring one of Marky D’s Hottest Singles “EVERYBODY.”

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Probably the most difficult & life-challenging things I’ve ever done, staying dedicated & taking the lumps & struggles along the way but I wasn’t raised a quitter or a hater! All I know is to work hard and benefit from it. I don’t count nobody pockets or take credit for something I didn’t do.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m a songwriter /artist & now a part entertainment business owner! I think what sets me apart is I’m not selfish, I lead by example but never been scared to speak up. I’ve always valued work ethic and driven people & I feel if you put that energy out, that’s what will soon add to your circle.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would’ve definitely made sure the first label contract I signed put my family in a better situation & just been smarter about being around people that had my best interest.
