Meet Reagan Kathryn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reagan Kathryn.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Reagan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a cosplayer, which basically means I create and wear costumes from video games, pop culture, anime and comics!

I started in 2016. Before, I had owned a Princess Company where I would perform at events in character. In 2016, I went to my first convention called Anime Los Angeles and realized people were dressing up from everything! I decided I wanted to join in and made my first cosplay (Rey-Punzel! It was a mix of Rapunzel and Rey! I had a little green Pascal BB8 that sat on my shoulder and everything!)

At the convention, everyone was so incredibly nice! Complimenting my costume, talking to me about fandoms we shared and taking photos. After this convention, I decided I wanted to Cosplay full time! The convention was in January and I packed up all my stuff and moved to California in February.

Over the years, I continued to make costumes and grow in my skill and social media. I met lots of amazing people and other talented creators. Now I work to make costumes for companies to bring their characters to life! I have made characters for Nexon, Bandai Namco, Overwatch League and many many more!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely been a learning curve! When I started, I didn’t have any of the skills to create costumes. I had to learn all aspects of costume construction! Including sewing, foam work, worbla, casting, electronics, and much more! I would go to the job I had during the day, come home and practice my skills until early in the morning, sleep for a few hours and then wake up and do it again! I spent every moment I had pouring my heart and soul into my costumes and skills!

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I specialize in Anime, Video Game, Comic Book and Pop Culture costumes! I create costumes that you can’t find anywhere else. Each one is completely custom made. Most of the time I create costumes for myself, taking photos and sharing them over social media. I also work with companies to bring their characters to life! Sometimes I even get to wear the costumes to events to interact with guest, get people excited about new characters or even at character announcements!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Everything I have done has lead me to this place! I think the only thing I would do differently is not be afraid to share my stuff! Fear should never hold you back from sharing your art with the world.
