Life and Work with Nausicaa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nausicaa.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nausicaa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m born and raised in France and I have a background in classical music. I played cello and piano since I was 4. I went to the Sorbonne university in Musicology. I always was very attracted to art, any kind of art, from ballet to painting, and I spend all my free time in museums, from the Louvre to the Grand Palais. I was obsessed with Van Gogh, Picasso, Renoir, Toulouse Lautrec, etc. At that time, we for sure didn’t have any iPhone and iPad!! I had that very high work ethic since an early age, as I started training classical music many hours each day.

I also worked in fashion as a model, that was such a great experience, I got to travel the world, had photoshoots with genius masters such as Karl Lagarfeld and Michel Comte. That was really exciting and a great experience to collaborate with brands and see “the behind the scene” of the industry. I definitely learned the sense of details through playing an instrument and by working in fashion. To see the importance of a light or accessories, or even redoing a whole dress for one millimeter. I really feel like all my experiences were related one way or the other to art and what I’m doing today. I moved to LA and then worked in one of the leading LA art galleries, who did Shows with e.g., Alec Monopoly. The long hours made me realize I needed to organize my schedule in a way I could still hustle in the art world but also spend more time with my children. Then I started the Cool HeART gallery – this was a dream coming true. The gallery is a platform for art, inspiration, vision; a place where everybody is welcome. To me art is for everyone – It is an experience.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely required a thorough plan in my head and learning a skill set to be an entrepreneur. There are so many aspects that are less glamorous than creating a show, things like accounting and shipping. I have a very strong passion for sharing tips, especially to young woman: “When you have a dream, make it happen, it doesn’t happen in one day, just stick to your plan, be really organized, work and be focused. That’s the key; consistency. Everyday, keep doing it, keep pushing every single day and see it as a step towards your goal. Be patient and once again consistent!!

I would say the main challenge is to balance work and family time as a single mom. I am so blessed with my children, they are big enough to come with me for the shows, meetings sometimes and to give me their opinion on certain art pieces, which is so funny. My daughter has such a strong personality. She has her own taste and own opinion now. She sometimes paints with Retna, it is so great to see the magic happening.

Please tell us about The Cool HeART Gallery.
The Cool HeART is a contemporary art gallery located at Sofitel Los Angeles in Beverly Hills. I curate artists from the US and internationally, such as Risk, Tiffanie Anderson, Richard Orlinski, etc. I am proud to represent some amazing female artists too. I have a very strong passion for empowering women, to be a voice myself and inspire creativity, respect and kindness. I also represent emergent artists such as Keya, Omie and Brandon Deener. It is great to take them under your wings, to see them grow as artists and be able to give them a platform where they can share their talent.

Organizing shows is definitely my favorite part of my job. When I get to be creative. I am really excited to work on the next show, it will include new artists and new challenges. It will include new artists and new challenges. It will be another art experience. I cannot tell too much right now, but all I can say is I can’t wait to be able to share the news with the thriving art community in the coming weeks #thecoolheart!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I am a podcast person for sure. I really love listening to motivational speakers and people who share their positive mindset. My number one podcast, which is only about 15 min, is STEVE Harvey. It is short, but it is exactly what you need to start your day off right. He knows exactly what to say – it’s crazy! It gives you the drive you need to be in a good state of mind. If I’m having a long drive I’ll listen to Shay Jetty.
