Today we’d like to introduce you to Arlana Brooks.
Arlana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I always have a passion for baking which came from my mom. I started my last year of college by baking as a hobby. It took years to figure out the cookie business, which came from a lot of networking. Today, I still work full time, Now I know my niche and direction I want to go.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road. Challenges were finding the right people to help me grow the business, such as packaging, co-packer, website designer, funding to name a few. Having to pull myself up after a brief marriage and becoming a mother.
Please tell us about Arlana’s Gourmet Cookies.
Arlana’s Gourmet Cookie’s is not just a cookies company, we are also passionate about impacting our community. We will partner with three organizations and dedicating one month for each organization to raise funds. I’m transitioning from baking to have my co-packer, bake and package each cookie individually. I continue to package to cookies in their containers. We are known for our unique packaging and our cookie pops which look like lollipops. Our creativity sets us apart, we think outside the box. I’m most proud of having to have start a company from the ground up and we continue to evolve.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Visiting my friend in Maryland.
