Today we’d like to introduce you to WRKINSILENCE.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always been around music. Whether it would be uncle singing at our family parties, or my grandfather singing classical songs with his friends, music has been an essential part of my upbringing. Although I love to sing and rap, initially, I couldn’t picture myself doing this in front of a camera yet alone a live audience. I wanted to be the guy behind the scenes managing talented artists, however, that plan didn’t work out. The artists I wanted to manage couldn’t see the vision that I had and ultimately wanted to just fit in rather than be different. I didn’t let myself become discouraged from this, instead I took matters into my own hands and decided to put my insecurities aside and become an artist myself.
When I say insecurities, I’m not saying that I am insecure about my physical appearance, but rather I’m referring to my introverted personality. For this reason, I put a mask on and the mask became my true face. I’ve been making music for the past year and a half and I’ve yet to tell the world my story. Truthfully, I’ve been teasing everyone with short melodic soundtracks that make people feel a certain way. I’ve been told that my music consists of different moods because of the various styles of sounds that allow people to feel a certain emotion. Although I am from the west coast, my music is universal, meaning that people from different cities and countries can resonate with it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s definitely been a bumpy road in the sense that I started out with and still have nobody helping me to this day. I believe that I am the only true independent artist with no label, no management, no investor, no one funding or guiding me. I have met with many managers, labels, and A&Rs, however, I have yet to find a team that gives me the gut instinct that this is the right move to make.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a Hip Hop/R&B artist, and I make music based on my real life stories. Due to authenticity, high-quality production, and soothing vocals, people gravitate towards my sound. I am known for my music and for my image as I am the only masked artist in the west coast. What sets me apart from others is that I don’t sound like anybody else in the music industry.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t do anything differently. Everything is going according to plan.
