Meet Shaunelle Gowen of High Time Photo Booth in Studio City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaunelle Gowen.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I completed an event planning program a few years back and gained experience working in the event business thereafter. I’ve always enjoyed the creative aspect of planning and designing events. I bounced around the idea of starting a photo booth company with my then fiancé and by the time we started planning our wedding we were able to acquire a strong idea of what was available in the photo booth marketplace. I noticed a lot of these companies had the same overall design and thought we could create a product with a more sleek, stylish aesthetic. Our goal was for our photo booth to look seamless in any event setting. We knew we needed to stand out so we began sketching out ideas for the booth and fell in love with the Mid-Century Modern design we had, which is something we didn’t see in the marketplace. We brought our design to a local woodworking company and High Time Photo Booth was born.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
With starting any business there are always ups and downs and learning curves. One of the challenges along the way was learning the technical aspects of operating a photo booth. Between the software, lighting, DSLR camera and social media kiosk, there were a lot of hours invested to ensure our booth was set up to operate at the highest quality possible.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the High Time Photo Booth story. Tell us more about the business.
High Time Photo Booth is an open-air booth that showcases a Mid-Century Modern design equipped with high resolution DSLR camera and professional studio-level lighting to produce top-quality prints along with the ability to share images via our social media kiosk directly to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and email. Most important to us is quality; from our backdrops to props, prints and every detail in between.

We pride ourselves in giving our clients a seamless experience from booking to executing their event and ensuring guests have a great time. We are proud to be the only Mid-Century Modern photo booth in Southern California and possibly beyond.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t feel luck has played any role in our business. We have dedicated our time, passion and money to create a business we could be proud to call our own.
