Meet Brooke Mason of Brooke Mason Studio in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Mason.

Brooke, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started when I was very young, in Sydney Australia, around 12yrs old. I didn’t know at that stage this was going to be my life long profession. I was a hobbyist, developing my own film in the darkroom and experimenting with editing right there and then. Now those days seem so distant since everything is fast paced and digital. I’m happy I started as a “purest”. I believe it makes me a different kind of photographer because of it.

How I got here today? That’s a tough one… the most truthful answer is perseverance, dedication and hard work, lots of hard work. I’ve always been a very driven person in everything I do, I think that helps.

As an artist, I’m always striving to top my latest. That will never change.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
To be frank, my biggest challenge is being a female in a male dominated industry, an attractive female just adds another level. Don’t get me wrong, I actually love a challenge and if this was too easy of a road I probably would not have taken it.

I believe we learn our most in the hardest times, we see what we’re really made of and that creates our strength and backbone. As an artist, I’ve jumped in the deep end plenty of times not knowing if I would sink, but… I didn’t, and I’m still here today feeling stronger and excited to keep creating.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Brooke Mason Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m known as a celebrity and advertising photographer. But what most people don’t know is I have my own boutique creative branding agency. BrookeMasonCreative.com – I adore what I do. Whether it’s branding and marketing for my fabulous clients or I’m on set for a magazine photographing a known actress or personality – it’s hard work, but I love it all!

Is it conceited to say what sets me apart from the rest is that I’m ridiculously creative and driven? 😉 haha… Probably that’s what it is. I’ll stay up all night for a client or eagerly jump out of bed at 5am for a photoshoot, even though I’m not a morning person, my staff can vouch for that.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believe the harder I work the luckier I get 😉 … I’m not a big gambler, well not on my dime. I’m a huge advocate of whatever you put out you get back, karma is everything.
