Meet Tim Storms of The Academy Of Movement Arts And Sciences in West Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Storms.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tim. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started gymnastics when I was four years old, and martial arts at 12. By 15, I was choreographing fights and stunts for local plays, television and student films. As an actor, dancer, martial arts teacher, circus clown, and professional stuntman, I’ve always been interested in combining movement styles for unique and interesting choreography. I’ve been blessed to study under some of the most technically knowledgeable teachers in those fields, The Academy Of Movement Arts And Sciences is the result of all those years of study, and my way to give back to the artists interested in those art forms.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s never been a smooth road. I think the hardest part is logistics. Once I’m on the floor, teaching, it’s great, but just trying to bring everyone in class, on time, can be difficult. Los Angeles traffic tends to make people late.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We teach movie fight choreography, and specialize in wire-work, like from The Matrix movies. I’m proud that I’m able to give my students real-life skills, that can be applied to a real profession, either as an action actor or professional stunt performer. I think we are sort of a “one-stop shop”, where we can take the very raw movement of an un-trained person, and make them look quite proficient in their skill level, and also enhance the skills of a trained person, and make them look like a master.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, L.A. is the best place for a business like ours. I quite regularly have actors and stunt performers from around the world coming to train with us, as they can’t find the same type of training where they are from.
