Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie King.
The Tonga Hut is the oldest Tiki Bar in Los Angeles, opening its doors in 1958. The current ownership has been here since 2005 and has restored the Tonga Hut to the splendor it deserves. We’ve preserved all the original tikis and cleaned up what was deteriorating or broken, like the original fountains. We’ve also vamped up the cocktail program and make our tropical style drinks with fresh and home-made ingredients. We’ve also opened a second location in Palm Springs 3 years ago.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Since 2012 we’ve been on an upwards trajectory once we hired a bar manager who knew the business and helped us revamp the cocktail menu.
