Meet Skye Lewin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Skye Lewin.

Skye, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Like many musicians, I started out playing in bands. From there, I started writing music and developed an appreciation for recording and producing music as well. This naturally led to combining of all of these interests, which came together in the form of various music-related roles, from music editorial for television and film, to songwriting, producing, and composing. I’ve always been drawn to how much can be said with music that can be difficult to express with words.

Has it been a smooth road?
Yeah, there are always ups and downs. Things that are out of our control can have a big effect on us (like an industry-wide strike, for example), but if we stay the course, it usually works out in the end.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Composition and music editorial are the main roles I’ve filled, but I’ve also done a lot of songwriting, music production work, recording engineering, and performing on various records. It’s all been really enjoyable. I take a lot of pride in what I do, whether it’s music-related or not, and always want to make the outcome as good as it can be.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
There are tremendous opportunities in Los Angeles, for sure. It can be a great place to start out, especially if you have family or friends in town or other reasons to be here. Focusing solely on a career can be tiring, and sometimes can even be counter-productive. It always helps to have a hobby or an outlet to shift your attention from focusing on a career. That said, no matter where you go or what you do, friendships will be made along the way.
