Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Latin.
Johnny is the founder and creator of Latinva Dance Fitness. He is a talented performer and gifted teacher who came to the United States after a long and successful career in Ecuador, Argentina and Brazil. His sensational dance routines are exciting and exhilarating while being technically exact and challenging. Prior to launching his career as a group dance instructor, Johnny was the captain of a soccer team in Ecuador. While being an avid and talented soccer player, and also having a passion for dance, Johnny had to make a choice to pursue a career in soccer or follow his heart and his true passion of dance. Johnny had to follow his heart and “Dance”; this is when he developed this revolutionary dance freestyle using various classical and modern Latin dance routines.
In 2002, Johnny, traveled to America to attend the International Health and Fitness Association’s (“IDEA”) annual conference in San Diego. After the conference, Johnny decided to stay in the United States and settled in Los Angeles. A few months later, he began teaching dance routines at The Bay Clubs Sports Club/LA. In 2007, Johnny founded Latinva; a unique cardio dance experience that celebrates the beauty of Latin dance, dance rhythms that include Cha Cha, Salsa, Merengue, Tango, Bachata, and Mambo. Johnny teaches more than 15 Latinva Dance Fitness cardio workout classes each week for Equinox Clubs and Bay Clubs throughout the Los Angeles area.
Has it been a smooth road?
The fitness industry is highly competitive and requires a lot of capital to break through the barriers.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Latinva is a dance fitness program unlike any in the industry, it excludes any of the traditional aerobics steps included in other programs.
The Latinva class dynamics is not that of an instructor and student, it is best described as an instructor and performer. The class participants are encouraged and motivated to be fully engaged in the choreography. At the end of each class, the participants will feel exhilarated and part of a memorable dance performance.
Latinva does NOT apply a predefined choreography. Instructors create a new routine for each and every class that they teach by using the wide range of Latinva steps for the creation of a new choreography. Instructors are also empowered to add their own style and Latin-inspired dance steps. The order of the steps can be changed freely every time. Latinva also introduces new steps routinely to keep the instructors motivated and performers engaged. This revolutionary freestyle of teaching ensures attendees retention, as they will never get bored.
Performers are required not just to be physically present but also mentally present. Latinva is a total mind and body escape since it requires the performers’ full concentration; the dance floor is fully utilized from front, back, right, left and diagonal. The Latinva choreography has no limitations or boundaries.
Latinva only utilizes dance steps in its program and the movements are fluid, elegant and sexy. Performers will learn how to dance, improve coordination, tone core muscles, arms and legs and ultimately achieve beautiful body lines…just like a dancer.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Latinva loves Los Angeles regardless of the challenges and competition.
