Meet Jordé Diomande of Jordevity

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordé Diomande.

Jordé, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am from Ivory Coast in West Africa and have been living in the US for three years now. I have spent one year in the Bay Area where I was introduced to the beauty of musical theater, directing and creating a project from the ground up. I was originally studying for a regular business major when I realized that I had to be performing or creating and sharing art that people would enjoy. I then came to Los Angeles and started modeling, I learned how to get comfortable in front of the camera because modeling is something I had been wanting to do for a long time. After doing it for a year, I got tired because I couldn’t find anybody that would create the very type of art I envisioned. I then decided to start exploring the funny side in me and got a camera to be a YouTuber, little did I know, it would have been the beginning of something bigger.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing is ever too easy, is it? If anything, I have learned patience and perseverance; I have learned to trust my instinct and accept rejection but mostly, I have learned more about human nature. Although there is a lot we could make happen on our own, we will always need people to help us go further. However, the lack of support from these people can be discouraging and engender many things. Whether we are musicians, photographers, painters, stylist, videographers, illustrators or models, we must learn to be giving and less selfish. We must support in order to be supported in return, we must share and remain positive no matter what. One of my biggest issues is seeing how some artists would think that their form of art deserves remuneration more than others (model Vs photographer…). We all work hard and want to be acknowledged for what we do but we must start by acknowledging the works and struggles of the fellow creatives next to us.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Jordevity – what should we know?
I do photography and have a soft spot for a nice artsy and vintage aesthetic. I care not only about the quality of the image but mostly the subject. I take pride in making every single thing in the image shine like never before. I usually do not like the “what makes you special” question because as artists, we all have a niche that we belong to and within this niche, we are able to stand out because the way we think might differ. Thus, I am an artist who imagines beautiful things and try to bring them to life with the help of my camera. I am a creative who gets inspired by the beauty around him, the beauty in other’s work and creates my own interpretation of the beauty surrounding me. Making people happy and satisfied is one of my main objectives when doing my work.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think that being GENUINE is what has helped me so far. Be genuine with the people you meet and work with, be genuine with your work and why you do it. When you are honest with yourself as with others and care deeply about providing the best quality you can, there are no reasons for you to not succeed.
