Meet Sandra Evelyn Garibay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Evelyn Garibay.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sandra Evelyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I knew I was an artist since I was about five years of age. Painting and healing throughout my entire life with canvas painting. I painted to save my life…I still do. I painted through my marriage and raising three amazing Sons., all who are artists but not by choice.

I started my career when I was living in Duarte, CA. I was living in the garage, while my sons and ex-husband lived in the House. I made the garage an Art studio/living area. It was there that I began to do Photoshoots and taught sugarskull work to makeup artist. I am a multimedia artist. A professional Body Painter, Air brusher, I taught art history and art to Homeschool groups from my home. I took my career a bit further by teaching and Certifying anyone that wanted to learn PRO Makeup Artistry. I then became a Celebrity Makeup Artist when I began traveling with Kesha.

I taught art therapy to those that wanted to heal through art and canvas.

After touring with Kesha, I opened up an Elite Makeup Academy, in the City of Pomona. www.volumeeight.com

I pushed my academy for about eight years, then moved out to Hesperia, CA where I joined Blank Canvas Paint Nite team. I am currently the Instructor there. I still get called to work with artist and asked to compete internationally..but I choose to just paint close to home and teach those that want to express and have passion for life.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not.

My life has been far from easy. I grew up in a dysfunctional household, filled with abuse on every level. I have 13 brothers and sisters yet, I don’t have a relationship with them. I was the weird one. I never fit in.

Painting, coloring, drawing was my salvation.

Painting saved my life.

Having my children saved my life.

I have lived in my car.
I have been hungry.
I have lost my mind…
My Art Saved Me.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sandra E. Artist story. Tell us more about the business.
My makeup academy. Volume 8 Makeup Academy was for those that were passionate about colors, mediums, and creativity was unique and beautiful.

I recently closed the doors to this Amazing Academy.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I want to paint. I want to see people become more free and feel more intouch with their inner peace, with paint. Passion and self-love is what propels us to become True to ourselves.

I would love to continue to teach.
