Today we’d like to introduce you to Mercedes Goris.

Mercedes, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After my divorce, I found myself as a single mother ready to take on a personal and professional challenge. I had spent many years working for others (and helping them build their own businesses), I decided to branch out and start my own brand. I wanted to create a space that was intimate, professional and where clients could have a quality experience.

I am a Los Angeles native and grew-up in Beverly Hills. I have been in the beauty industry for over 10 years. I’m a licensed Esthetician, plus certified lash stylist and trainer.

I started with a very small space with people waiting on the door steps of my studio for their appointments. Within the first year, business grew at such a fast pace that I was propelled to expand to a larger space.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting a business with an 8-month-old child was definitely a challenge, being able to balance all aspects of business and being a new mother seemed overwhelming at times. Even now, years later, I still find it challenging; balancing motherhood and being a business owner. I have great admiration and respect for working mothers.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ethereal Beauty & Lashes story. Tell us more about the business.
Ethereal Beauty & Lashes is a privately-owned eyelash extension boutique. We are known for providing quality eyelash extensions within a reasonable price range to meet the client’s needs. Our guests can count on receiving the best one-on-one intimate and personalized services, and educating our clients in the proper care of their lash extensions.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I never dreamt that my business would be located in Beverly Hills. My aunt, Lucy De Castenou, who also has had a successful business in Beverly Hills for many years had come across a small space that she thought would be ideal for my start-up. That space is an excellent location in Beverly Hills (now that’s luck). I’m grateful to the community of Beverly Hills for being of support. I had some real angels in my life that not only restored my faith in humanity but have helped me tremendously along the journey. I’m incredibly lucky having such a supportive family. My greatest luck of all is the clients and friends that walk through my doors every day. I am so grateful for it all.
