Meet Trayein Duplessis of Triiiniiti

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trayein Duplessis.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Trayein. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been interested in telling stories and getting out what’s inside my head in as many ways as I could. As a child, I loved poetry and draping fabrics. I would try any and everything that would lead me to creating something or forming something with my own two hands. I would drape towels and sheets around my little seven-year-old body and make myself dresses. I had convinced myself that I would be a singer by my early twenties because I loved music. I picked up pottery, dance, instruments, writing, sewing, and doing hair all by the age of twelve. I slowly started to find what I was deeply passionate about. Yes, I could do all of them, but what really pushed me forward.

I decided that fashion and costume design would be it for me. I began making garments more and more in high school and would make costumes for my Theatre company. After a while of searching and picking up and putting down many mediums, I’ve found a home in all types of design and I’ve learned fashion and creative design fits me best.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ah, it’s been smooth but winding. I think the rockiness in the road comes when I put the rocks there myself. When you believe in your path and truly trust your path it begins to be smooth. There’s always some twists and turns but your transitions are easier. I think my rocks came from not trusting myself and my intuition, not listening to my intuition, and getting too caught up in the what MAY happen more than what is happening.

Triiiniiti – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My creative house is Triiiniiti. I specialize in helping others tell their stories through visual platforms, from creative direction to design. I have a unique scope of the world, as most of us do, but I specifically love creating what lives in the mind and immersing an audience in that world. I believe every creative places you in their world and asks you to look around from their perspective, and a great artist can stimulate dialogue from that experience. I have created many engaging and interactive spaces, my most favorite has been my time at Ziran, a beautiful, small silk brand that is expanding before our eyes.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Every moment? I try to give myself flowers after every accomplishment so there’s not a singular moment that stands out amongst them all. Or maybe, I haven’t met the proudest moment yet. Maybe.
