Meet Mickey Goldkorn of Super Sal of America in Encino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mickey Goldkorn.

Mickey – introduce our readers to Super Sal.

Super Sal, started 15 years ago as the premier Israeli grocery store (glatt kosher, RCC certified). Today, with new management (owners of Menchie’s and MidiCi), Super Sal of America is investing heavily in key areas and growing rapidly.

– Super Sal’s kosher meat department offers the highest quality meat and best customer service in the highest-standard environment. Customers have raved about the recent changes.

– Super Sal’s warm environment brings the “best” of Israel — from upgraded store look (still in progress) to staff who is warm and customer-focused. A truly enjoyable place to shop.

– The best prices possible. When bringing products, many from Israel, there is a strong focus on passing on savings and value to customers … while never compromising on quality standards.

Word has spread so fast that Super Sal is now getting orders from San Diego, Hawaii and across the US.

Super Sal also has a restaurant, TzaBar (formerly Dr. Sandwich) – www.TzaBar.com. For many years it has been known for its amazing shawarma, and now offers the best falafel (fluffier, healthier and full of taste). We challenge you to find any better falafel in town!

Authentic Israeli (Mediterranean) dishes for eat-in and take-out have been selling out daily … with native Israeli chefs, the food is truly “A taste of Israel.”

And catering that has been a huge hit at parties (on-site falafel and shawarma station) and for lunch deliveries.

Super Sal is looking to open additional locations soon.

Maintaining the authenticity of the place (Israeli feel, largest variety of products from Israel) in an environment that feels like home to the local community (non-Israelis).

Our vision is to share the BEST of Israel with communities across the US.

That’s great. Tell us a little more about the business. What’s unique?
We are the most authentic Israeli supermarket and restaurant with a 1-stop shop for the largest variety of products from Israel, glatt-kosher meat, fish and deli and a well-known authentic Israeli restaurant.

Our vision is to be the leader in bringing the BEST of Israel to communities across the US.

And our mission is to make you feel home.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
“40% of millennials like to try ‘anything new and different’ ” — so giving them an authentic experience (A taste of Israel) will be key. Additionally, people seek connectedness — to their roots, to their local community — and look for hubs to offer that.
