Meet Alyson Charles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyson Charles.

Alyson, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up wildly excelling in sports, I was a national champion distance runner and athlete for the University of Alabama but during all those years I was deeply suppressing my true calling and spiritual gifts. When my body started breaking down at the end of college, so did that “athlete” identity, which began to open me up and ask “ok, if this is going away, who am I really?”

I did become a Division I College Coach but during this time is when I also became a morning show host at a hip-hop radio station and that was the first major pull in the more aligned path for me. And after many years in radio, then transitioning to television where I was a daytime tv talk show host, it was at this point that a deep breaking point in a very long-term relationship causes my spiritual awakening.

There had been signs for many years that I wasn’t fully aligned with my truth but in the pain and confusing suffrage cycles of that relationship, it was a very traumatic time. So traumatic that it actually took a Divine Intervention day (which is a separate, long story) where my spirit guides turned on my first ability – clairaudience – the ability to hear Spirit, and through their guidance I was lead to facing my greatest fears around betrayal and in this process, the egoic shell around me and the veil that had been over my third eye completely dismantled, leaving me with the truth of myself, the relationship, Earth and much more!

That day changed the entire course of my life. In seeing the truth I surrendered to Great Spirit and asked to be shown the way for my healing, and in my devotion to following its every lead for me, I awakened to my calling which is being a shaman, seer and mystic bridging the worlds of consciousness and media!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Oh lord! Hahaha, it has been the WILDEST road! Walking the heroes’ journey, the Good Red Road/spiritual path is not for the faint of heart. My favorite quote is “truth is a pathless land,” and that is how every day since my awakening has been – I walk and live COMPLETELY by the calls, whispers and messages from the unseen realms which takes huge amounts of deep trust, faith and courage.

In the process of becoming who you truly are, the aspects of you that have been limiting or false must be burned away – so shamans go through many initiations, deaths in various forms, rites of passages, etc… that test your every fiber to the deepest cores. You also have to face every aspect of yourself – shadow and all – this is an absolute VITAL key in embodying your gifts healthily and being able to truly be of service.

Being in complete devotion to these works brings the most incredible miracles but in the devotion to infinitely evolving, ascending and committing to high-vibrational practices, you become more and more energy sensitive by the day, which can shift many aspects of your life. I’ve gone years being celibate, turned my life upside down more than once to break out of old portals/patterns/ways of living that weren’t conducive to the new my soul was ready for, etc…

I am blown away every day by the things I am able to learn about myself, humanity and all the unseen realms by living this work. I would not change one second of the depth, the fires, the learning, feeling… it has opened me up to living an Earth life filled with reverence, gratitude, compassion and joy.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Each shaman and spiritual teacher possesses different “medicine,” gifts and abilities – different ways in which our teachings are to go out to the world. I am here delivering shamanism and mysticism to the masses and mainstream, a lot of times via the media and entertainment worlds, to help many in the US reconnect back to ancient wisdom and truths, to help them connect back to themselves and all the power and light stored inside. Shamanism is not meant to only be practiced in the woods, desert or jungle. It desperately NEEDS to be shown and taken to places where connection to spirit and high-vibrations has been lacking!

I am also known as “RockStar Shaman” (the name expressing the importance of the balance of living connected to grounded/Mother Earth energy, “rock” and also up to Father Sky, consciousness energies, “star” and also tying in to how my shamanism works a lot in the entertainment industries).

My medicine, teachings and energetic transmissions go out through me giving talks, live spirit animal readings, television appearances and interviews. I work a lot in media – Forbes named my work “a full-fledged guide into your psyche,” I was the first person in the 25-year history of the HBO Film Festival to ever go on stage where I guided a shamanic journey for over 10,000 people, I’ve given talks for the New York Times, Art Basel, Barneys NY, Marie Claire Magazine, etc… I host a spiritual talk show called “Soul Reboot,” I am the resident energy guru and monthly spiritual columnist for “best health site” Well and Good and more.

I am VERY passionate about giving back. I work right alongside two non-profits completely devoted to the preservation of indigenous cultures and traditions (ANIWA and The BOA Foundation) and I am also CEO and Founder of Shamanic Media where we provide courses like “Summer of Spirit School” and “Third Eye Certified” and provide consulting and training for other healers, lightworkers and conscious brands/businesses ready to expand their medicine out the world more!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
More television work, my first book will be out next year, continuing to do all I can to support and work alongside various indigenous communities worldwide, to support them in the best ways that they need whether it’s land buy-back, reforestation efforts, community building, speaking about their importance and power in the interviews I do etc…

On a personal note, I am excited for love! Love medicine pertaining to relationships has been my biggest work this lifetime – I mean, it WAS the thing that provided my actual awakening! And so my voyage with heart work and opening back up to healthy, romantic relationships have been huge personal medicine for me which is extremely exciting, extremely vulnerable stuff!

I actually took the previous two years to recharge by personal energy battery and focus on helping other healers and conscious brands get out to the world more but it’s my time again! And I’m pumped. I can feel in my blood and bones that my grandest work and sharings are to come and I can’t wait to see how it all expresses.
