Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Tenenbaum.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Hannah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am the youngest of three, my parents are both from New York (Brooklyn and Long Island). I was born and raised in Newtown, CT (Fairfield County). I went to college at Gettysburg College and immediately upon graduation moved to New York City to pursue a career in the entertainment field. I landed at a PR agency representing a wide range of clients from celebrity talent to non-profit organizations where I was a publicity assistant for a year. It was there that I learned about talent agencies and immediately read THE MAILROOM 3 times in a row. I made moves towards landing a desk at an agency (or starting in the mailroom depending on which agency) as quickly as possible. I spent the next 2 ½ years at ICM Partners, first in the concerts division in New York City then transitioning over to brand partnerships in Los Angeles where I found what I felt most passionate about and what I could see myself doing as a long-term career. In 2016, I joined Paradigm Talent Agency as an agent in the brand partnerships department. I am forever grateful for the several individuals who believed in me and ultimately hired me for the job. I am also incredibly thankful for my move to Los Angeles which will be five years ago this Christmas day. It wasn’t easy at first, but I now cannot imagine myself anywhere else. I especially love my community of Venice.
Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not! If it was always a smooth road there would be no fun to it. This industry is based on human interaction and not one of us is perfect, so there’s bound to be complications at some point or another. The key, I think, is how you handle those moments and what you do to fix them. My favorite thing about the sometimes-bumpy roads is that typically, once it’s all said and done, we can laugh about it. And outside of work, as mentioned previously, it wasn’t easy at first – my move to Los Angeles. Living across the country from my entire family comes with another set of challenges and bumpy roads but I’ve been lucky to surround myself with friends who feel like family, and I live relatively close to LAX! So getting on a plane to JFK doesn’t feel all that bad after all.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Paradigm Talent Agency – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Paradigm Talent Agency provides global representation to a diverse and dynamic roster of artists and content creators in television, live music, motion pictures, theatre, digital, book publishing, content finance, and brand partnerships. We are located in the U.S., Canada and Europe. I am in the brand partnerships department, specifically focusing on opportunities for our clients in the television, motion pictures, theatre, digital and book publishing spaces. I find myself working the most with actors and while I work across all categories of brands, I believe that I have a bit of a specialty within fashion and beauty. One of my favorite campaigns this year was Ezra Miller for Urban Decay. He is a “citizen” of the brand alongside Lizzo, Joey King, CL and Karol G. It is pretty groundbreaking and awesome to see a male talent in this global beauty campaign. I also did my first Super Bowl commercial this year with Zoë Kravitz and Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold. With that, I am known to be working at all times (which is to be said for most agents) but the truth is, I’ve learned how to prioritize and project manage very well. I am also known for traveling quite a bit, which I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to do. In the past twelve months I have been to: Tokyo, Hawaii, Geneva, Barcelona, Madrid, London, Paris and New York (somewhere in that order). I have an incredible assistant named Julia who always helps keep everything on track. I am immensely proud to be here at Paradigm. There are a lot of agents who come from other agencies (myself included) and it’s very clear that Paradigm has our own unique character that truly serves 100% for the art for the artist. It’s a beautiful thing. We also strongly support and enable young employees and promote growth from within. I don’t think that happens as well as it happens here at Paradigm and it’s our young voices that are the future of the company and the industry.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the people, the weather, the opportunity, the outdoors, the history and how deeply those in LA care about our environment and the future of it. I’m a fan of Sugarfish/KazuNori and some of my favorite spots in Venice include Groundwork on Rose, Pilates Platinum on Lincoln, Flowerboy, Café Gratitude, Clutch and Gran Blanco (where you might also find me dancing by the records).
My least favorite things revolve around traffic and public transportation (go figure), and I’d love to get more involved with helping our homeless population. It makes me sad to see so many in the area.
