Meet Philip Burton aka Burtono from Hawthorne California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Philip Burton.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Philip. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a rapper/producer from Hawthorne California. Since the age of 14, I’ve been rapping & producing beats. I attended Hawthorne High School where I met Tyler The Creator & joined the group Odd Future but soon separated. I recently released a project entitled “Hawthorne High” with super producer Swiff D. Now, I’m focusing on bettering my sound & creativity & gearing up to release a joined project with signer Peonii entitled “Young Blood”. I‘m influenced by hip-hop/r&b/rock/jazz/alternative & you can hear the variety of sounds in my music. With my unique flow & style I will soon make a huge impact as one of the top new emerging artist from the west coast.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a lot of ups & a lot of downs. Far from a smooth road but with god I’ve been able to make it to where I am now. When I was super young me & my family use to live in South Central California before my mom and dad could save up enough money to move us to Hawthorne California. I remember my parents didn’t have a car so we use to have to walk home late at night from my grandparent’s house and if you know south central like I do then you know it’s not a safe place to be walking around late at night in lol. Soon later, we moved to Hawthorne California where I really started working on my craft & building my own sound. My dad bought me FL studio and I started making beats and rapping over them. Later on, I got a job so I could buy some speakers, a mic & studio time. I’ve watch my family struggle to pay bills, put food on the table every night & keep us safe & I just want to make life easier for my family because they deserve the world. I do it for them.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
My business/company/brand specializes in everything music. I rap, product, sing & write for others but I’m best known for my rapping & production. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come & how much I’ve been able to accomplish. My brother Damion has always been there to push and help me make the best work I possibly can & with that being said, I have a lot more work to do & I’m hella excited for what’s to come!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck plays a little role in my eyes. I mostly believe in the power of God, hard work, & consistency. You want something you have to go get it. It doesn’t happen overnight but if you work hard enough it will all fall into place.
