Meet Deacon Tyler of F-Sequence Studio in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deacon Tyler.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
F-Sequence Studio’s key to longevity is that we are what the market demands us to be. We began many years ago as a simple photography studio, but as of 2017, we are developing into a very unique creative agency geared towards helping small and large companies develop their ecommerce advertising.

Has it been a smooth road?
No road worth traveling is free of bumps and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Every hurdle has been a learning experience and we wouldn’t be who we are or where we are without them. Steel is tempered in flames and diamonds are formed under pressure.

If I had to put a fine point on it, our greatest struggle has simply been to find our place in the world. My wife/partner and I started business many years ago as wedding photographers before making the switch to commercial photography. Learning how to write contracts, learning how to effectively communicate, learning how turn away the wrong projects and accept the right ones – these are all hurdles that every business must encounter in order to grow.

If you begin life as a block of marble, these struggles are the hammer and chisel that turns you into a statue. These are the tools that have allowed us to succeed after moving to Los Angeles in 2014.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
F-Sequence Studio is a commercial photography studio that will be transforming into a full creative agency in 2017. We specialize in high end portraiture, fashion and advertising photography services.

In addition to photography, we also offer talent castings for our projects (which effectively turns us into our own exclusive modeling agency), art direction, food/product/wardrobe/makeup styling and set design. We are one of the few studios in the nation that can plan a project from the ground up and cast talent for those projects, in addition to providing photography.

What sets us apart from our competition is what makes me most proud: our versatility and our longevity. In an age where photography is considered a ‘dying’ profession, we are in our 19th year of business and are almost always booked with projects months out.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles is a city of vast opportunities and quite possibly the only city to run a business like ours. Our city is known for having the best creatives in the world and the prestige of being a Los Angeles photographer has brought us clients from around the globe.

Despite many similar offerings, a company with excellent work quality and good business ethics will succeed in Los Angeles. The cream will always rise to the top.
