Meet Patricia Nevil of L’ezu Bridal Atelier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Nevil.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Patricia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I will never forget the meltdown panic I felt at the prospect of choosing a wedding gown as a 26 year-old. I was new to this country, basically a stranger living in El Paso, Texas. How was I supposed to find the “perfect” dress for my upcoming nuptials in this strange city with no one to give me their honest opinion? I then came to the sudden realization that the only opinion I had to acquiesce to, was my own.

The first dress I ever designed and constructed was my own and let me tell you, that was a risky move. A move that paid off, however, because it led me to find my true passion in life: designing. I dream to create the perfect silhouette for every bride, give her the tools to look and feel her absolute best on the day she will remember forever.

I went to FIDM and studied fashion design once I decided to become a bridal designer. There I won few scholarships that took me to Paris to study under well-known designer’s houses, such as Ungaro, Hermes, L’école Francois Lesage, Louis Feraud.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every year we got loans to be able to take the collection to New York, even though we always paid them, it was a struggle.

More when in 2007 the economy was starting to collapse and one of our 3 stores suffer an accident where a car drove through and damaged everything inside and we had to stay closed for almost a year. By the time we were able to open, was not worthy to keep that store open and that caused us to downgrade and kept the studio low key. Glad to say we survived the recession of 2008.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the L’ezu Bridal Atelier story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in the design of wedding dresses and evening gowns, Corina Lewinzon and I are the co-founders and we both met at FIDM.

We are the designers, the pattern makers and we work directly with the customers, so it makes it very personal and intimate. We are very proud of that detail that makes us unique in our industry. We are known for making high-end dresses that flatter the client’s figure, where we allow the bride to participate in the design and make it unique for her.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
There is no such a thing as good or bad luck.

Taking care of our reputation by offering first quality product, keeping good communication with clients and delivering on time, has kept us in business.

Pricing:

  • Our dresses start at $2,800
  • Range between $3,200 to $4,500
