Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Silvestre.
Alexis Silvestre was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 28, 1994. He gained his love for acting at a very young age but with him being so young he had no idea where to start. As Alexis got older, he started his pursuit to his acting career in Atlanta, GA starting off doing background work. Working on sets such as The Walking Dead, Devious Maids, Goosebumps, and many of others. While doing so, he used this as schooling to learn as much as he could on set. Shortly after he then began submitting himself to roles and actually landing his first speaking role on a short film called The Gospel of Jon. Within no time Alexis began booking numerous of shorts and commercials such as RIP Jane Doe, The Red Road, Bessie, and an AT&T commercial.
Alexis moved to Los Angeles in 2015 with no regrets and started submitting himself theatrically and booking roles such as “Friends Be Like” as a series regular and “Behind the Smile” as a supporting character. He then booked his first lead role in “Hinjews”; followed by playing the lead in “Chavez Ravine”. Alexis shortly later on signed with Inclusion Management across the board with his loving manager Vince Lazzo.
In his free time, Alexis loves playing basketball, watching movies with friends, and his newfound interest: producing and directing films. Producing his first short film called Entity and co-directing a series called Jane and Marlow. Alexis says, “I don’t know everything yet and I still have a lot of learning to do”; however, he knows a few things are for sure, people love him and he loves people. He is a great actor who takes his career very seriously but also has fun with it! Alexis is a follower of God and he knows that he will make it to his destination no matter the time frame. We are all just passengers on a ride through his journey!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Alexis says he doesn’t feel like anything in life that you are truly passionate about will have a smooth ride along the way. In fact, he feels like struggles will only build character and get you more ready for life then you thought you were at the start of your journey. Needless to say, Alexis as had an abundance far share of struggles such as being homeless more than once while living in LA, having no money in his bank account to able to afford his next meal, losing friends along the way in which whom he considered his family, and much more.
In fact, while driving to LA from Atlanta, GA Alexis was testing as soon as he was crossing the California border by blowing one of his tires. Lucky for Alexis his father Henry Silvestre raised him well, so he knew how to change a flat tire. However, after emptying his trunk full of his belonging and switching out the flat tire to the spare tire, he finally realizes that the spare tire was also flat. Alexis had no service and no one near to help, he slept in his car overnight till the next morning. The next day a police officer finally pulls up to Alexis offering a ride 30 miles west to the nearest tire shop, Alexis accepts. While getting to the tired shop the police officer drops him off with no attentions of driving him back. Needless to say, the tire shop didn’t have the correct tire size for him. So Alexis begins to walk 30 miles back east towards the car trying to hitchhike from anyone that would help. Finally after a while, a trucker stops to help out but Alexis says it was only after he believed the trucker seeing him scratching him booty that he stopped. The trucker was actually a nice man and drove Alexis back to his car to pick up a few items and the additions 30 something miles east to another tire shop. The trucker man drops Alexis off wishing him luck on his journey. Alexis gets the tire and starts walking yet again 30 miles west towards the car. While walking up the ramp of the freeway with the new tires above his head Alexis is stopped by a police officer. In fact, it just happened to be the say exact police officer that helped Alexis out the first time. The police officer looked at Alexis in disbelief and says “There just isn’t no giving up in you son, is there”, Alexis says he just smiled and answered no sir.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Alexis doesn’t actually have his own company just yet but he does work with a few filming companies as an independent contractor. Doing work for these companies as an actor when booked, producer when needing help getting things done behind the camera, and directing when they like the eye that Alexis has as a filmmaker. Alexis says he specializes in overall creating no matter what that might be. He simply wants to be able to say he help in his own way in creating something big and meaningful. Alexis is known for his caring, loving heart and personality. Anyone whom has worked with Alexis will not have anything negative to say about him. He makes sure everyone feels like they matter while working, making sure to speak to everyone that he has time for, seeing if anyone needs anything from him. Alexis is definitely the type of guy that will take the shirt off of his back if someone else needed it more then him. Alexis is around of everything that he does no matter how small or big a project is. He feels like he is giving apart of himself to anything that he works on and that is very important to him. That also is what makes Alexis stand out from others and also that he just has a welcoming smile. #SmilersKeepSmiling is what Alexis always says.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Alexis says that success is something that everyone wants in life. Some people would say money gives them success or even having nice things. Alexis says being successful to him means doing the things that you love to do in life no matter what that might be. If all you ever wanted in life was to work at a grocery store and you’re doing that with your life, then your successful. Simply just reaching your goals in life will measure your success!
