Meet Andrew English Jr of Devyce.tv in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew English Jr.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
First to start this off. Shout out to the Valley! (Northridge)

I started off as just a normal kid who loved video games and sports, still do. Growing up, I’ve always had a creative side me. Whether that be drawing, acting, etc. I could remember from my earliest memories asking my mom to get me dragon ball z tracing books and buying disposable Polaroid cameras. Or even watching cartoons and trying to mimic everyone’s voices and showing my parents what I could do. But I focused on more on playing sports and trying to make my dream to be a professional ballplayer come true. When I got into college, I thought I wanted to be a Kinesiologist or sports trainer because my natural knowledge of athletics and wanting to help people. However my creative side kept pushing up and telling me that I needed to pursue what I really wanted to do.

Luckily in college, I took a really amazing class that really made me see that I shouldn’t be afraid of really pursuing what I wanted to do. After I graduated with my degree in communications and minor in theater I fully decided to pursue acting. It was hard at first but I mapped out everything I needed to do in order to succeed the best way in this impossible industry. Two years later I’m moving exactly and even better than I predicted. I’ve been on set with some big names in the acting world and I’m starting up a streaming site with my godfather called DEVYCEtv. We’re currently filming one Webseries and have a couple of features that we’re going to film in the next couple of months and pushing into next year. I’ve been grinding my way into the film industry and it looks like the hustle is starting to pay off a little bit. My goal is to be a lead on an HBO show and get my feature into the Sundance film festival. It looks like I’m right on track.

Another big hobby of mine besides video games is history. I love finding the truth behind everything. The thing I’m researching and studying up on is the true history of Egypt and religion.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’m a firm believer of if the process is easy, you’re probably doing it wrong.

It has definitely been a struggle but a great learning experience along the way. Auditioning is not easy, especially when you went in there and thought you killed the part but don’t get the part. I’ve learned to do my best in anything and wait for the results to come in. As long as I did or do my best in anything, I feel accomplished regardless of the result.

Devyce.tv – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Devyce.tv. Started by my Godfather.

We’re a developing streaming platform that produces and shoots our own original content. We’re currently in production for our film Barred. We have a great cast and crew. Can’t wait to finish filming and get this edited for online viewing.

Much projects to come.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is what you make of it. Everyone has their own goals and perspectives. One person could call success owning a 15 million dollar mansion, owning a yacht, and have a garage full of sport cars. And another man can call success getting a nice home and starting his own family.

“The beauty is to the eye of the beholder”.

My personal acting goal is to be a lead on an HBO or Showtime series. And my film making goal is to have a film displayed at Sundance.
