Meet Nicholas Coolridge of ModernTarzan in Venice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Coolridge.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nicholas . So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been a mover infact I was nicknamed Monkey boy as a kid cause I was always climbing on everything! As I grew up, I started working construction with my father and this was great for a while but I felt that I had potential for something more. After ten years of working hard at age 24, I had saved $10,000 and built out a van I could live in. This was when I took a leap of faith and moved down to LA to see if I could make it as a stunt man! I was living in my van at the time so it was a pretty easy move and the only way I actually could afford to live there. Once in LA, I put ALL my time and effort into meeting people, training my body and hustling social media. During the first year, I was accepted onto American Ninja Warrior and my Instagram started growing rapidly! Fast forward five years of working the same hustle and I would say that I’m pretty much living my dream life getting paid opportunities all over the world to perform, teach or create social media content!

Has it been a smooth road?
When I first moved to LA, I said to my self “I’m gonna commit one year of my life to finding ways to support myself doing what I love and I will not stop working towards that until that year is up OR if I run out of money LOL. There’s points throughout that year that I felt very discouraged cause it wasn’t progressing as quickly as I thought and my bank account was slowly depleting BUT I was enjoying the process overall so I kept at it. Once the year went by I was down to about half of what I started with which was now $5000 but my following was starting to pick up and my first episodes of American Ninja warrior was about to air so I thought let’s give it another year! By the end of the second year my bank account had actually gone up!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with ModernTarzan – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I do a variety of things that pay the bills, mostly I’m what you’d call a social media influencer. I create all sorts of content but what I think really sets me apart is my creative twist on things without using photoshop or special effects, Many of my posts will look sort of normal for a moment until you realize that image might be turned sideways for instance and I’m actually sitting on the wall! I love blowing peoples minds and forcing them to look at things little differently.

I also teach, model and perform AcroYoga which is my all-around favorite form of exercise. I host retreats around the world with my girl friend @AcroSprout and privates when I’m in town.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Honestly, I’m not a fan of big cities. There’s traffic, pollution, people aren’t as friendly, it’s all about the hustle but that’s a city for you. I live here though because of the community down at the original Muscle beach. They have become my crazy family of unique yet professional adult children. It’s a truly amazing group of people and I love them all.
