Meet Dominic Barba

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Barba.

Dominic, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started working for a digital marketing agency in downtown Santa Monica. I was doing really well in sales but still wasn’t happy. My company was voted best place to work in LA which totally freaked me out. If this was the best in LA what was I doing here? Out of nowhere I put in my two weeks and bought a new car so I can Uber full time and go to school. I was now officially chasing my dream as an actor and big and tall mode, living in the place I’ve always wanted to be.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest challenge is learning how to find hustles to support your dreams. Doing odd jobs at part-time places and apps like Uber just to keep your schedule open enough to work on your craft and be available for castings or projects.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an actor and big and tall model. I truly am living the dream. Being a kid, I used to always see shows such as SNL and MadTv and I thought to myself “I can do that.” 20 years later, I’m pursuing my dreams of comedic acting and working the ranks of UCB theater and doing what I love to do. As a big and tall model as well it gives me a platform to embrace being a big guy. I always grew up a big kid into a big guy and loved my size. I think it’s made me unique and giving me a different confidence normal-sized people can’t understand. It’s truly a blessing to be able to do both forms professionally.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future plans are to be in a sitcom or sketch comedy show. I am a big believer in manifesting your reality, but none of that comes without putting the work in. I am one of the most confident people I know and hate failing. I push myself in all my classes and projects to be the best version of myself. It’s not if but when I’m a star and can’t wait to have people join me in my journey.
