Today we’d like to introduce you to Winston Peace.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Winston. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I grew up just north of Boston, MA skateboarding and making music with my friends. I worked several jobs to make ends meet and support myself. Suddenly out of the blue, I fell in love. I decided to move away from Boston to Nashville, TN to pursue the woman I fell in love with and get a fresh start on the next chapter of my life.
While in Nashville I worked in the construction field and traveled a lot for work. I wasn’t in love with the job, but I had a great boss and it paid well. I later transitioned to an upscale seafood restaurant to put an end to my traveling workflow and stay local. A part of that transition was also my desire to re-enroll in college and start knocking out credits. A coworker of mine at the restaurant, Matthew Agoucha, asked me one day if he could shoot me for some fashion work to include in his portfolio. Following that shoot, I was scouted by Kieth Berry via my Instagram posts from the shoot with Matthew. Keith then introduced me to this wild industry. He coached me through the fundamentals and later helped me make the transition to my current Mother Agency, Eye Management located in Nashville as well.
Following that, I was then quickly scouted by Two Management to be represented in California, Toronto, and Copenhagen. It was insane, I had one month notice to uproot my life and make the leap to Los Angeles to pursue this new opportunity. I then sacrificed all I knew and loved. I parted ways with the love of my life, I dropped out of college, I quit my job, and I broke the lease for a very new apartment I had just acquired. Packed my car up with all my belongings and drove from Nashville to Boston, said farewells to family and friends, then drove across the country to Los Angeles to start my new life. Since then I’ve been gaining valuable work experience in the field working for the likes of Mercedes AMG, Vans, Puma, and other big names. I recently returned from a two and a half month trip to Germany, and I’m currently hungry and ready to see where my road leads next!!!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We all have our struggles, I think one of my hardest hurdles so far was being young and in love. Learning that love has a story of its own, and that it’s not something we necessarily have control over. I’ve also had to face a wake up call in the transition of being financially secure and always being able to support myself. I dove into an opportunity where I knew I would be vulnerable in that sense. It has truly been a learning experience, though I know I’ve grown much along the way.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I never thought I would find myself in the position I’m in. When people ask me what I do for a living, I still shock myself when I say I’m a model and actor. I work for all different types of clients, and form bonds with the various production crews I work with. It’s really a special line of work to be able to have it also double as a creative outlet. I get to work simultaneously with other like minds to produce the art that is their vision and my own, and it is beautiful!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t know that I necessarily believe in luck, but karma. That’s a different animal. I’ve been in some low places, and I’ve still given my best to those around me. I met a friend who had come into an opportunity for a new house, old but had character. I helped him rebuild his kitchen, paint the entirety of the house, clean the roof off, and clean the balcony/patio off. At the time, I was so broke, and I gave him my help with no intention of receiving anything in return. Right about the time it was all said and done, I was given word of an opportunity to travel to Germany. That opportunity became a reality in the matter of two days. It was such a surreal turn around for me, and that journey helped me fight some internal battles I’d left unresolved for myself.
