Meet Marcus Fort of MFort Photo in San Bernardino Mountains

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Fort.

Marcus, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, I have always had a creative mind and have seen things in a unique way. By 2009, I became a published poet, built a community revolved around my passion for poetry, and established a platform geared towards like-minded artists. After a handful of years, I realized I wanted to venture into a new form of self-expression.

I give absolute praises to my wife as she leads me to the next chapter in my life. She gifted me my first camera and was an inspiration and influence as I dove into my new passion. Soon, I was introduced to the fashion industry where I did shoots for multiple boutiques and online fashion blogs.

Capturing people in the moment guided me to wedding, event, and portrait photography. This gave me the opportunity to portray personalities through my lens while cultivating split seconds into lifetime memories.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My obstacles came from within; not knowing what steps to take or direction to follow, figuring out how to edit photos with my personal style and how to connect with brands in such a saturated industry. Yet, I have learned to create my own lane through trial and error. I understand that there will always be false starts but as long as you know where you’re going, you’ll be alright.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about MFort Photo – what should we know?
MFort Photo has allowed me to collaborate with brands such as Hulu, Create & Commune, Cromwell Watch Co, Beyond the Smoke, Southern Maid Donuts, G.O.A.T. For Men and St. Cole., just to name a few. My photography has allowed me to travel all throughout California and soon Central America.

At the end of the day, I hope to be known for creating poetry through a lens.

What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
I plan on continuing to strengthen my portfolio by expanding my borders through travel and connecting with top industry brands to create stunning content to ultimately set them apart from their competitors.
