Today we’d like to introduce you to Agnes Azria.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I had an innate desire from a young age to use writing as a tool to express myself. As I got older music became a more fulfilling way to create something relatable and personal to share. I got myself into it when I was around 8 with vocal lessons, I picked up the guitar at 12, then after high school I went to Berklee College of Music for a year, before deciding to drop out and put my all into my music career.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing is smooth. There is always so much to learn. This business is very much about trial and error. I think the most rewarding, yet trickiest part is finding the right people to surround yourself with. people who understand you, your vision, and most importantly are good humans.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
In short, I am a songwriter and producer. I’m certainly a studio junkie who loves making new sounds. On stage, I sometimes loop multiple instruments live and create an arrangement on the spot. As a songwriter, my lyrics are often about social issues such as gender equality. I’m excited as I’ve released my first few singles over the last year and I’m now producing my first Ep which will release this year.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My idea of success is being able to live a positive, healthy lifestyle. What is important to me is being able to continue to take care of and support myself doing what I love. Further, my ultimate goal is to help others through my music, as well as through more tangible, charitable ways.
