Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Oldaker.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Taylor. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was younger, I knew I wanted to be an Actress. I put on plays in front of my stuffed animals and even re-wrote Hannah Montana Episodes with me in them. Later on, I grew up in a small town in Florida where Acting was something people said you couldn’t do. I thought they were right and I was just dreaming. After that, I followed the “norm” through school and had a plan for the rest of my life. A major key in that plan failed and I didn’t know what to do. Finally, someone asked me what I wanted to be when I was younger. I thought that was silly but I said an Actress. I thought about it and decided my very last class for my College Degree was going to be Intro to Acting, to see if this was something I was still capable of. Immediately the first day I fell in love. I knew this is what I was meant to be doing for the rest of my life. The passion and fire inside me for Acting is the feeling I’ve always searched for, Little did I know, that feeling is what it feels like to follow your dreams.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been easy but if it was everyone would do it. A major challenge in my Career was deciding to move from a small town to the big city of Los Angeles without a Professional Acting credit to my name. My parents thought I was kidding the first time I told them I wanted to move across the country. Thankfully, they supported me and my decisions. You only live once so I packed up my Hyundai and drove over 40 hours by myself. I had amazing friends and family that helped me along the way, I never felt alone. The struggles didn’t stop there. Everyone will tell you trying to afford to live and stay in LA is hard. Working 40 plus hours at a job or two to afford bills but not being able to audition all the time is tough. However, every single obstacle will become worth it, so I continue to stay positive.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an Actress that loves doing comedy, drama, and voice-over work. I want to be every type of character throughout my career. I want to be the sweet young girl but who could also be someone evil. That’s the fun of acting, being able to bring life to a character. Even though that character is nothing like you in real life. I love making people feel, whether that be through making someone smile, laugh, or cry by watching my work. I want to make a difference in peoples lives because of my Acting.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
One of the proudest moments I had started in June 2018. I started a new acting class at “Breakin’ Through Acting Workshop” with Choice Skinner. My career would not be the same without this class. A month later, I signed with a Manager. A month after that, I booked my first professional acting job, a National Commercial with GEICO.
