Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Grant.
Richard, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hair has been my passion at a Very Young Age. I would predict since I was nine years old, I would play with My Sisters Barbie Doll Hair and Often doing my Mothers hair demanding her not to expose my gift. I was looking for a Mentor and Trained with a guy named Neeko who was Known for doing Halle Berry’s hair and numerous other celebs. I was so Blessed to be apart of an Amazing salon that had 30 stations, all culturally Diverse and a Photo Studio in the back where if you weren’t Busy that day you would book a photoshoot to create new Content.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say 75 percent of my career I have been truly blessed. I feel like in life there is always going to be obstacles to be the best version of yourself. I would say 25percent of a struggle was taking a leap of faith of moving from a fully booked clientele from Pasadena to Beverly Hills knowing that I would loose half or more of my clients.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Richard Grant Hair story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is based of making women feel Amazing. I do all types of textures of hair. I have a Diverse Clientele. I am known as a Hair Extension Specialist, Celebrity Stylist and a Editorial stylist. The most thing that I am proud of is that I get to be creative artist and make a great living by uplifting and empowering women which is a blessing.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am a very spiritual person so I wouldn’t use the word Luck. I would say I was destined to be where I am right now in my career. It’s God and the universe working in my favor. I remember being in Hair school trying to get a side job applying to Ross, Baskin Robbins and God not allowing me to get a job but instead he blessed me with an assistant job that paid me 500.00 bucks a week. I didn’t understand why I couldn’t get these jobs until he showed me the assisting job and right then there I knew I was Destined to be Hair Stylist.
