Meet Ronson Moses of Moses Fitness in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronson Moses.

Ronson, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was newly married, studying Biblical law in Israel and I needed a way to bring in some extra money to support my family. Throughout my youth, I studied different martial arts and styles of fitness, becoming very proficient in many forms. I approached a group of younger students if they would be interested in starting a class in the local park, and that’s how Moses Fitness was born. What originally started as a small group of five guys as an MMA class gradually changed into a more fitness oriented class as more and more people were just interested in the fitness aspects of martial arts. A few weeks later the word had spread and students from all over Jerusalem were joining. As much as my wife and I loved Israel we wanted to be by our families, so we moved back to L.A. Since I saw how successful the movement was in Israel, I figured I should give it a go here. I asked my parents if I could use their garage to start up my business, they agreed. With only a set of PowerBlocks and a bench. One piece of equipment at a time, thank G-d, Moses Fitness has grown from its 400sf home garage into a beautiful 3500sf state of the art performance facility to a serve a significant nucleus of people in the valley with strength and conditioning across all forms of athletics. We just partnered with J.A.M Sports and Spine physical therapy, making our facility available for everyone’s performance needs. I am humbled and truly blessed to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful people that come and train in my facility.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of our biggest challenges so far was finding a location other than a home garage to move the gym. It took nearly two years to finally find a place that stuck. Not a lot of people like having a gym as a tenant, we make lots of noise and take up a lot of parking.

Moses Fitness – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am one of the few people who has competed successfully in many different modalities. From martial arts to strength sports and bodybuilding to many things in between, I apply the same principals that allowed me to take first, to my athletes. I am now one of the few places that offer strongman, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, bodybuilding, combative martial arts, MMA, cross-training as well as physical therapy and biomechanical analysis. Truly unique to Moses fitness is our separate classes for men and women, as well as separate open gym hours, letting everyone feel as comfortable as possible

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
One of the beauties of working in the fitness industry is that its quantifiable progress. Are you lifting more weight? Are you running a faster mile? Every pound you put on the bar or every second you shave off your time is proof positive that you are doing your job as a coach and athlete. The proof is in the pudding, people come back because they succeed. We share that success with them as their coach.
