Meet Tezy Wonda of Young Visionaries (YVAPPAREL) in West Covina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tezy Wonda.

Tezy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Sheesh, How I got started man. You taking me way back. I got started young doing music performing and singing at shows with my grandma and fam at this park I believe it was in Carson it used to be these events where my grams and her friends would all link up bbq and perform the whole fam sha-bang ya know? I used to always want to perform.

Especially because I used to watch Michael Jackson’s The American Dream since my last names Jackson I knew I was destined for greatness I had this feeling in my gut foreal. I used to drive my family crazy everyday cause I would literally watch it EVERYDAY BACK TO BACK and practice all the songs and dance moves. Then I Finally had my chance. Don’t get me wrong I was OD nervous but I was OD anxious to perform. In the end, I knew that was what I wanted to do ever since the rest is history.

As far as owning my own business that came later on down the line. I used to work for UPS and hated it only because of my boss. He was mad disrespectful and I couldn’t do it. Before I quit I had to figure out an escape route to never work for a company to where I’m expendable and that’s how I came up with a plan a vision and a name to start my Own Company.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m a tell you this now the road is the road and every road got its bumps and potholes. Especially the road to success as an upcoming artist and business owner. The struggle has always been around. I was raised with my two sisters by our single mother. Me being the middle child and only male in the household made me realize the struggle early on. Moms missing all day because she at work and barely making the money to keep the lights on my sister being the oldest trying her best to take care of me and my lil sister while moms was working. I knew something had to change fast. And that’s not even half of it. But Another struggle I had on this road was people believing in me and my music. I believed in myself so much that I would literally show my family and friends every song I recorded till the point where they would just say thats cool. Was not the response I was looking for so I stopped seeking validation from people. As Far as the Business side struggles, I would say finding a set business location to print and sell our merch.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is Young Visionaries (yvapparel). Its a clothing line based out of West Covina CA, That motivates inspires and basically gives artist/creatives a platform to showcase their talents. Since I print all my companies merch I decided to open another business that prints clothes hats etc for other businesses. I got into screen printing the same time I decided to quit UPS. In my city I’m known from my music and my clothing line. I’m most proud about my company is our yearly annual toy drive. Right before Christmas, I throw a local event that brings the community of West Covina together to all donate toys, clothes, etc. for the children that are less fortunate. What sets me apart from people I would say my faith in God. People always asking how do I do things and I always give it right back to him.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was wreck-less I definitely was that badass kid that got away with everything. I fasho wasn’t mean I know for a fact I was a class clown that was cool with everybody plus I got shit done (mamma ain’t raise no fool). And my interest growing up was music, clothes, dancing, girls watching animal planet lmaoo sports you know all that fun stuff kids like myself used to do ahahahaha.
