Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniella Davis.
Chef Daniella Davis got her start at the age of five years old when she and her father started a home video series called the Daddy/Daughter Cooking Show, but it wasn’t until her sophomore year of college where she decided to start her career in the culinary field. Chef Daniella began working in restaurants in both Long Island and Manhattan, but she knew that her skills had moved past following a regimented menu style. This lead her to start her own personal chef and catering company called Dine in with Daniella.
Coming from a diverse cultural background and a family with strong culinary ties, it was only natural that Chef Daniella followed in those culinary footsteps. Over the past few years, she has mastered several genres of cuisine to include, Latin, Asian and her special calling…Caribbean Fusion! Chef Daniella has fashioned culinary fare for celebrities like VH1’s Love and Hip Hop star, Kaylin Garcia and host of upscale clients from LA to NYC! Chef Daniella’s ability to layer flavors with culinary prowess keeps her clients coming back for more! Meal prepping for families is a passion for her and she loves to showcase her personal chef services in intimate settings. She is also able to handle the task of larger crowds, with the help of her all-female catering staff.
All of her hard work did not go unnoticed when she participated in Food & Wine’s Best Chef 2015 program. If that wasn’t enough, television came calling next, with her competing on the Food Network show, Guy’s Grocery Games.
Chef Daniella is an advocate for Sickle Cell Awareness, as she lives with the disease, but it NEVER stops her from accomplishing her goals. She is also an assistant instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC and volunteers to work with the youth in her community. She was also honored and received an award from The Flourishing Blossom Society for Girls. This is a program to prepare young girls to be phenomenal women by building self-confidence and encouraging self-expression.
The non-profit organization chose Chef Daniella as one of their prominent women in the community because of her consistent service. In a field where men dominate, Chef Daniella has the chops to hold her own and consistently delivers! She travels the country sharing her love of food with her clients and she is just scratching the surface of her building her culinary empire!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it has been rough since relocating to LA from NY. Having to start fresh and make my mark is something I’ve struggled with. Also being an academic as well it was hard for my family to accept my career choice and entrepreneurship is always a struggle starting out. I was determined to show my Skillset and What being a chef means to me so I worked hard and it has definitely paid off.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Dine in with Daniella – what should we know?
I’m a cannabis chef and caterer. I specialize in cannabis infusion. My Caribbean and Latina background is where the most of my menus are derived from. Especially living in LA now I want to bring good fresh Caribbean flavors and showcase food from the Latin countries that are not necessarily native to LA.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Well me! I am my brand. I am the food. I believe in consistency and having the food speak for itself. I try to be firm and honest with my clients and bringing an experience to my clients. Not just serving food, I want it to be an experience.
