Today we’d like to introduce you to Frenchii.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Frenchii. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been interested in fashion since a kid. Coming from a single-parent home in Compton, CA I wasn’t always able to get brands I wanted. We didn’t live poorly or anything but my moms had to sacrifice spoiling me every now and then. With that being said, I learned how to make do with what I had, so that’s what I did. I’m a big accessories-advocate, in high school I used to try out different trends to experiment if a fad would pop or not. It’s been a lot of indecisiveness and redesigning when it comes to JeandeAUXX, but I’m proud to be at the stage in production we’re at right now. The name came from me not wanting to use my name for production. All three of my given names are famously occupied so I want to go by my name. Also, in the fashion industry there is a lot of prejudgment and critics, I wanted my designs to speak their own language, aloud. JeandeAUXX pronounced John Doe, immediately presents the brand with a proper amount of mystique.
Photography is another art that I’ve always been into. When I was little I used to have my mom buy me those Viewmaster toy cameras, thinking I was a professional lol. When I was about 12/13, one of my aunt’s took me to a yard sale, & I found a Polaroid camera. I ended up buying it with some money I got from doing choirs for her. After that it was over, I started taking pictures of family members and forcing them to pay me for the print outs lol. Entering high school I chose “photo-fundamentals” as my extracurricular activity, I learned a lot there, s/o BHS. I was introduced to videography and editing then as well. Like a year after graduation, in 2010, I brought a camera from a friend of the family, who later became my mentor so to speak, & began my professional freelance career.
To piggyback on that, I recently decided to transition over to video. I’m enrolled at LA Film School right now, I plan to use everything they’re teaching me to my advantage. Which brings me to the point of my media company, Crooklyn Press. I’ve wrote a script under that umbrella, hopefully I can introduce that project to y’all later this year.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road with my auxiliary line has been unpredictable. A lot of indecisiveness and redesigning. I’m proud to be at the point of production we’re in right now. FotoxFrenchii has taken very far, a camera can get you access to almost anywhere lol. My main goal is just to create businesses and opportunities for people as well as myself. Crooklyn Press is growing substantially from other photographers willing to work and create, to the clientele we’re building. I consider my photography system, FotoxFrenchii, to be under Crooklyn’s umbrella so the progress there coincides.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the JeandeAUXX Auxiliary & Crooklyn Press Media Co. story. Tell us more about the business.
JeandeAUXX Auxiliary is an luxury accessory line with “one of some” apparel approach. Belts. Auxiliary means; providing supplementary or additional help and support. I’ve study the demand and culture of the fashion industry and I’ve noticed most designers shy away from accessories. I believe, for people like me who embellish the thought, there is a lucrative turn around in accessories. That’s as much as I can say on that, we’re still at the drawing board with some things.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I plan on changing the industry with my designs. I mean that’s ultimately the goal. I see the fashion industry shifting towards something less tanglible and more virtual. I plan to stay innovate with my designs for my belts and company to keep relevant in the industry.
The film/photography industry is growing by the second. With new tech and virtuality effects, I can only imagine where we’ll be as a race 5-10 years now with photo. Maybe translucent some levitating touchscreens with 2D touchpad.
