Meet Brendan Sindell of House Beer in Venice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brendan Sindell.

Brendan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
House Beer launched in 2014 with the goal to create the quality of a craft beer but also make it accessible. We wanted to build a beer for our generation. A lager was the perfect style for us to focus on. That’s what we do. One beer done right.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Never a smooth road. Building a brand and product that consumers resonate with is a very difficult thing to do. I had no prior experience in the beer industry. One of the most competitive industries around. I didn’t have any prior experience in raising money which is also such a delicate process.

While I had mentors and I knew we had something special there was no template. Just test, adjust and keep moving forward.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about House Beer – what should we know?
We make one beer and we do it the right way. We’re proud of the city we grew up in and we want to deliver a product that our friends, family and our city can be proud of.

There are thousands of breweries in the US and no one is doing what we are doing. Focusing on one style. We took tremendous care in developing a consistent high-quality product. From the liquid to the design of our brand. We want our authenticity to shine through and we’re proud of where we are today. The work isn’t done and everyday we come in with that in mind.

We are trying take on giants. Making one beer – that’s what sets us apart and makes me most proud. Just us in our small little office in Venice committed to do our best everyday.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
It sounds cliche but it’s hard work. We never take for granted how lucky we are to have made it this far and we’re committed to bringing it everyday. What you see is what you get and that authenticity is vital to our success.
