Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariane Gabriel.
Ariane, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Of course! I grew up in Paris, France in a pretty international setting – I went to school with kids from many different countries, and we had a constant flow of visitors from all over the world staying at our house. I never thought anything of my voice until my mom signed me up with The American Church of Paris choir. That’s where I learned that I could use my voice to connect to people. It f became an addiction afterward.
Once I turned 18, I decided to move to the States– land of opportunity! — and attended Berklee College of Music to study songwriting. LA was always a goal of mine so, after graduation I hopped on a plane to LAX (cue in Miley Cyrus’ ‘Party in the USA’) and hit the ground running.
Ever since, I’ve been focusing on writing, recording, filming, performing and getting my songs out there. I’m planning on releasing some singles and an EP this year, so don’t fret– you’ll be hearing a lot more from me!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If it was, then it wouldn’t be interesting! I’ve dealt with a lot of self-doubts—especially living in a sea of extremely talented and successful people. However, whenever I feel that way, I like to remind myself that I am good enough and I still have a lot to accomplish in my journey. I’ve learned to not let fear be an excuse because it’s better to get a ‘no’ than not try at all.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Well, I’m a pop singer/songwriter here in LA. The thing I am most proud of is my message as an artist– being true to yourself. Being comfortable in your own skin is a hard thing to do, and I’m still learning how to do that. In a way, my music has helped me figure that out, and I think it’s helped others too. I’m currently finishing up a single that will be dropping mid-July. It’s going to be a fun summer song that touches upon that subject. I’m so excited to share it with the world!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I’d have to say writing and recording my first song. My best friend and I spent the weekend at my grandparent’s house where my older cousin set up his ‘recording studio’. The song was so bad but I thought it was the coolest thing!
