Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua White and Mehdi Elias Rezig.
Los Angeles native, Joshua White always had a passion for animals, especially dogs ever since he could remember. As a child, he would study dog breed books and watch dog shows on TV for hours. At a very young age, Josh started charity work for numerous dog shelters, he worked as a vet technician and worked many doggie daycares. He went to intern and work for another company years ago where he found his passion in the dog grooming world. The connection he makes with each dog and client is what pushed him to create DOGUE.
Joshua’s life and business partner, Mehdi Rezig was raised with dogs from a very young age until his first Dog, Charlotte passed away at 19. Mehdi quickly saw the obvious love and talent Joshua possesses both as a groomer and a dog owner. Both Mehdi and Josh believe that it was essential to provide a unique alternative for customers and their pets in creating DOGUE. Josh and Mehdi are proud and happy parents to Beau, Eden & Snow (toy poodle, doberman, standard poodle)
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been one of the most beautiful yet challenging experience thus far, for both Josh and Mehdi. We are not only life partners but also business partners. Almost four years as lovers, one year and a half as business partners, it has been essential (and still is today) to find the right balance in finding time dedicated to each other, our friends and family as well as staying focused on growing our business.
One advice for future business partners: become a master in communication.
It has truly been one of the most valuable lessons in our lives. Learning how to cope with ups and down together and on our own, making sure the business will not suffer from any personal decision we may take. We know that the hard work is behind us, no doubt at this point the sky is the limit.
Please tell us about Dogue Spa.
DOGUE is a high-end dog grooming salon. We love to combine style and unique cuts catering to each individual pup. We specialize In Japanese style grooming, hair dye, creative or specialty cuts. What we are proud of most are the authentic connections we gain with each and every one of our clients, without them, we would be nowhere.
What makes DOGUE different:
We focus on hairstyles and new trends and we push boundaries of what’s expected from a dog grooming salon. We give a unique experience once you walk into our doors, and who knows! Your dog may have a professional before and after photo posted on our Instagram page which our clients love.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory has to be anything with animals but one that sticks with me most is seeing Disney’s 101 Dalmatians as a child, I was obsessed!! and that’s where my passion for dogs started and now I made a career for myself and love what I do.
