Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Green.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started when I picked up an old, beaten up piece of furniture off the side of the road. I figured it would be fine to refinish- watching it come back to life and all….and it was, but that was short-lived and little did I know this would be the start to an amazing journey!

I quickly switched from refinishing furniture to building my own from square one within the first few months. Now here I am, a little over two years later with a full-time successful custom furniture business and a whole lot of gained knowledge!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a very smooth road for the most part. I’ve never struggled with the advertising/marketing side or having enough business (which I am forever grateful for) and while that’s amazing and definitely a positive; it’s also a struggle. I’ve found that a lack of time (to accomplish all that I want to with this company) is the most challenging part of this business.

Please tell us about The Rustic Home Co.
I am the sole maker in my company. I specialize in custom woodworking. I make everything from dining room tables and barn doors to accent walls, built-ins, and mosaic art pieces. I would definitely say being a female sets me apart in the carpentry world. While there are SO many amazing male carpenters out there, I truly believe I have an edge up on most. As a female- we typically have that eye for design and style. We care about how the piece is going to look in its final home and how it will flow with the decor. Those qualities mixed with the ability to physically build all the pieces is a recipe for something great in my opinion.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I can honestly say, I would not have done one single thing differently!
