Meet Adison Pigg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adison Pigg.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My driving force is that I absolutely HAVE to be passionate about what I’m doing. I’ve used the tagline “create yourself” for years now and that is a reminder to myself that I am capable of creating a life built on what I love to do.

Originally from Snohomish, WA – I went to college at Oregon State University where I earned a B.S. in Exercise Science and taught yoga and dance fitness as an undergrad. In my final year at OSU, I began a YouTube channel, “Flow With Adee”. I started this channel to hopefully reach a larger audience than the students and faculty members I was teaching in my classes on campus. I filmed 10-30 minute yoga sequences with voiceover instructions (that I put together 100% on my iPhone at first) and uploaded them. About six months into my YouTube career, I received my first check from YouTube! It was a whole $50 and I was thrilled. To me, that $50 proved to me that I didn’t need a “job”; that I could make a living doing what I loved.

Of course, it is not that easy. However, I’ve learned that where you put your energy – that grows.

I moved to Los Angeles, CA about 1 1/2 years ago and didn’t really know what I was getting into to be honest. I moved here for the sunshine and other opportunities this city may bring. The sunshine is EVERYTHING after living in a cloud (the PNW) for 22 years.

Since college, I’ve continued to teach yoga, dance, and personal train as well as run my YouTube channel. Always following my passions, I’ve pursued dance much more in Los Angeles than ever before. I teach my own class now in Los Angeles which I am very proud of and have just begun sharing the dancing side of myself on YouTube. I’ve created over 100 free yoga classes for YouTube at this point and I figure – it’s time to spice it up!

Please tell us about your art.
I am always creating, and I have several main purposes behind what I do.

Number 1 is to help people feel good and confident with their body. This holds true with increasing flexibility and reducing pain, losing weight and feeling confident, or learning how to dance in a stiletto and feel damn sexy doing it.

Number 2 is similar to the first, in that it’s learning how to TUNE IN to your body, to listen to your body – physically and emotionally. Both yoga and dance can be a great emotional release as well as the physical, and once you tap into that, I believe you are stronger in all areas of life.

Lastly, number 3 (one which is very personal to me) is to remind you that you can do it all, that you can be 100% yourself and not be ashamed. I’ve struggled between being portrayed as a “sweet innocent yoga girl” and a “sexy borderline-stripper dancer”. People seem to have a problem with the paradox of my activities of choice, and I do not care. Let me be an example to other women and men that you can be everything you want to be, to shamelessly express yourself, and do it well.

What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
Generationally, it is a beautiful time in that we are more encouraged to follow our dreams and there are so many people that are successful doing it. It is challenging for sure, but I do believe there is room for everyone to be successful and happy.

Support your friends! Go to their classes, buy their products, share their posts on social media. That means a lot.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
