Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Murphy.
Anthony, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I first took an interest in the entertainment industry in 1988 from my grandmother (Florence Kennedy). She used to watch Hip-Hop videos with me and her favorite rapper was LL Cool J. In 1998, I began making beats in Cleveland Ohio and quickly realized that I had a passion for the industry as a whole. Before entertainment, my primary focus was track and field I eventually would attended the University of South Alabama on an athletic scholarship. In 2006, Al Weeden (Al Mighty) who was at the time the Program Director gave me a job at Cumulus Broadcasting for 93Blx in Mobile Alabama as an on-air personality. That experience was very rewarding working on the media side of the industry.
In the midst of being on the radio, I began to work with a local group called the Mobillionairez who then introduced me to (Wendy Day) of the Rap Coalition who has a reputation getting artist good deals with labels. Wendy Day has worked with artists such as Master P, Eminem, Young Jeezy, Twista, and more. In fact, she orchestrated with super producer Mannie Fresh and the Mobillionairez to produce their single “Shake it Fast”. Mannie Fresh was the sole producer for Cash Money Records who produced hits such a “Back That Ass Up” “Bling Bling”, and Juveniles hit single “Ha” just to name a few. While promoting the single in South Carolina I meet the co-owner of Escro Entertainment (Marty Arnold) who has worked with artist such as 8 Ball & MJG, Usher, and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez just to name a few. Mr. Arnold has a resume that stretched back to the 90’s where he managed a Hip-Hop group called B-Rock and the Bizz who had a hit called “My Baby Daddy”. Marty and I kept in touch over the years but never worked on any projects. 2018 would prove to be a year where I would get my opportunity to step back into the industry. In July 2018 was introduced a local artist out of Dallas, Texas named JD Tha M.O.S.T. JD Tha M.O.S.T currently has a single titled “Blue In” with more material scheduled to release this summer. Later on that year in September 2018, Marty Arnold told me about an artist out of Inglewood California named Tia P. To be honest, I was done working in the entertainment industry. Eventually, I listened to a track titled “Revolution” by Tia P. and immediately wanted to be a part of something great and the rest was history.
Currently, I work Marketing & Media Relations at 6x Entertainment alongside marketing guru Dalyce Kelly (“D’Lyte”). 6x Entertainment is an entertainment company that develops promotes and establish inspiring actors, entertainers, and athletes. The team consists of C. Von Parchman Marty Arnold, Taye Simpson (Taye Hov), Dalyce Kelly (“D’Lyte”), and Tony Fisher Jr.( Tj Fisher). My goal for 6x Entertainment is to be become one of the premiere labels of the industry. As we begin to branch out into other facets of entertainment this goal is starting to become a reality.
Our flagship artist is Tia P. of Inglewood, California who recently released a single out titled “Come Together” featuring three-time Grammy Nominee & 2 time Emmy Winner B Slade. The single is a remake of the Beatles classic “Come Together”. With all the violence and division is our country Tia P. delivers the message of unity with this release. Tia P. will be appearing in BET talent contest titled “The Next Big Thing” scheduled to air July 2019.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There is no such thing as a smooth road when it comes to following your passion. This is an industry where every individual asks themselves, at some point “do I really want to keep doing this”?. At times I question whether or not I should continue work in entertainment. But persistence always produces results.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the 6xentertainment story. Tell us more about the business.
6xentertainment is an entertainment company that develops promotes and establish inspiring actors, entertainers, and athletes. I am very proud of our ability to work collectively as a unit. What sets 6xentertainment apart is a question that should be directed to one of our clients lol. In my opinion, what sets us apart is our team in itself. Each individual on our staff brings a unique perspective to the development process of our clients.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I view luck as simply putting yourself in a position to win. Networking with Marty Arnold over the years is how I was introduced to the 6xentertainment team. Far as my personal life good luck and bad luck are all results of decisions I made.
