Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Lindberg.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Courtney. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
LIGHT was my first word as a child and has become my obsession. I picked up a camera in high school and quickly fell in love, finding a deep creative outlet behind my lens and in the dark room.
My passion for photography grew with me as did my love of story telling. People fascinate me. I enjoy examining the human condition and the challenge of how to tell that story through images.
With a sense of humor and a deep-rooted love that is infectious, I strive to make any set/shoot simultaneously focused and joyful. I have great confidence and this allows all a sense of security which in turn helps spawn creativity. I bring to the table an ocean of ideas but love to imagine with my clients. I am easy to play with and get along best with big dreamers that have the tenacity to bring those dreams to life.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I don’t believe any road that provides great adventure is ever smooth. There absolutely have been bumps along the way, mostly in the form of growing pains.
Someone once told me at the beginning, “Do what you do best and outsource the rest.” I believe following that advice has allowed for my many successes as I have surrounded myself with the very best business team that provides me the structure to thrive as an artist.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Courtney Lindberg Photography – what should we know?
I specialize in creative portraiture. I take risks and believe in making mistakes. Favorite subjects include but are not limited to anyone willing to dive underwater, album art for musicians, publicity portraits for actors, couples and families in love and anyone that is willing to create and play big.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have had so many mentors and helpers along the way, people that have had great influence on me as an artist and on my journey in business.
Let me start with my incredible A-list team made up of my business manager, Nikki, my studio manager, Ashley, my intern turned associate, Lindsay and my accountant, Mark Grossman. They keep me on track and without their support and initiative, my company would not operate.
At the start, I turned to Steven Wingfield. Not only is he a dear friend, a ridiculously amazing lighting designer and fabulous photographer but has been a true mentor from the beginning. He owns and operates Lumador, a photographic rental house and when I come at him with the craziest ideas and he is always a yes. I am truly grateful for his guidance.
My family business started upon meeting one of the kindest dearest souls, Susan. I did one shoot with her and from that have had a lifetime of family sessions. Every branch leads back to her deep roots.
My original support system was developed over hours of conversation and dreaming with one of my best friends, Amber Moon of Amber Moon Design. We were both starting our companies and took great solace is navigating together. She created all of my brandings and operates one of the most successful design houses on the planet. Pairing up with Hannah Campbell-Anderson of Day of Gal, Ashley Walsh Kvamme of Kimosabe and Shannon O’Dowd, Host and Media Coach, we created a small business group that propelled us all into great success.
I would be remiss not to mention the incredible support of my family and friends who sat patiently for me and did all of the crazy things I asked them to do for the love of art and learning/testing new ideas and skills. I will always be grateful for their incredible support.
