Meet Evelyn Silvestre of Minitek Auto Service in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Silvestre.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Evelyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Jessy and I got married very young. I was going to college and he was going to ATC at the time. ATC was sponsored by Toyota and it offered job placement. He was hired by a shop in culver city in October of 2001 He was given the opportunity to work for a shop in Culver City right after he finished his classes at ATC. His manager took him under his wing and taught him everything he knew about front end repairs and alignments for any vehicle. One year later he was hired by Lexus. When he left the Culver City shop, he was doing 58% of the profits of the shop.

Then, his stay at Lexus was short because he was offered a job at Mini in early 2004. MINI is where he spent 10 years of his career. Thanks to the education MINI offered he was able to become a Master Technician for MINI. After all, his dream was to have his own shop one day. After some heavy thinking, he decided to go for it. Throughout the years, he has also worked on other makes. This is why he decided in May of 2014 to open his own shop where he can work on all makes and still specialize in MINI. Throughout our marriage I became a stay at home mom, but, Jessy wanted me to come to work with him and build out business together. So I did. He works on the cars and I do all the office things.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been smooth at all. We opened our shop with just our savings and when they were done we were in a very tight place. We thank God that he has blessed our shop with customers that have become faithful customers to MINITEK. We try to treat everyone like a friend and their cars like our own.

Jessy specializes in MINI Cooper. We just try to be honest and truthful to our customers. That is what we are most proud of that our customers trust us because they get the real deal when they bring their cars with us. What sets apart is our prices and honesty

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We are in a very competitive part of the city where there are hundreds of auto repair shops. It’s a very good place because we are on Lankershim Blvd. Which is a very busy place. I would recommend anyone to go for it, in whatever it is that they do.
