Meet Tony Perez of Sucuri in Inland Empire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Perez.

Tony, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.

I was originally born and raised in Miami, Florida. The Marine Corps transplanted me to Camp Pendleton in 2002.

When I left the Marine Corps in 2005, I worked as a Defense Contractor out of San Diego for many years before being introduced to the Sucuri founding team in 2011.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Of course not. Anyone that has ever started a business would never admit to it being a smooth ride. It’s impossible to list everything, but the challenges we faced were not unique.

They include some of the normal things like scaling a business, 24/7 operations, institutionalizing the company, never having the experience in building a company, communication challenges, and of course, hiring. There were some that might not be so unique, like building and managing a full, remote workforce.

We currently have over 100 employees in 29 countries. Beyond just the administrative challenges, you have the cultural and communication challenges that get amplified within this type of configuration.

Please tell us about Sucuri.

Sucuri is a Software as a Service (SaaS) website security platform.

We provide website security services to organizations of all sizes, and specialize in open-source technologies (e.g., WordPress, Joomla!, Magento, Drupal, etc.).

Our specific services include brand reputation monitoring, security and malware scanning, professional incident response, and cloud-based mitigation of external attacks.

We are  syndicated globally for our research on the latest tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) hackers are employing against websites and web applications.

Our key differentiators are in our research and customer support (which currently enjoys a 98% satisfaction rate).

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?

The one quality I attribute  my personal success to has always been my work ethic.

The one character trait would have to be my straight- shooter approach to all things. Life is just too short to beat around the bush.

Sometimes you have to rip the Bandaid off to start having meaningful conversations.

Pricing:

  • The pricing is structured as such:for 12 months of website security, an organization pays a flat fee of $499.99 per year. This provides them a complete solution that includes protection, detection, and incident response; the three core tenants of security.
